It was a great place to go see a movie but don’t waste your time in going Because it is no longer open for business.

I just want to notify this page that the Dunes Theater has been closed for about a year.

Honestly I like this place. Yeah of course its not a «new» place and is old but I like it. Its humble. Its cheap and it stil has that old town feel! I definitely hope it stays open! :-)

You basically get what you pay for. I prefer the bigger theaters although they are pricier, just because the Dunes is a bit too run down for me. But if you’re in Zion and don’t mind a little older place it isn’t horribly bad since you’re paying a lot less. Sometimes they don’t have the movies you’d like to see because there’s only 3 at a time but again, for that price you can’t really complain too much.

Awesome little theater showing first run films at a discount price. I believe we paid $ 4 per ticket for some daytime shows; current pricing in Milwaukee’s nearly double that. Bring cash since they don’t take credit cards, but at that price, who the heck can blame them? Concession prices were cheap as well. The large popcorn was, well, small, but it was also inexpensive, and as a bonus, they had a seasoning station where you could add flavorings to the popcorn. Better yet, free refills — on any size drink or popcorn. Awesome. Now, a word of caution, this is an old, old place, yet it’s not a fancy old theater, so it’s missing some of the charm that makes some older places attractive. It’s been carved up into three smaller theaters, and that means that the screens aren’t that large, and the seats are old, and there are other things that can be criticized. However, if you’re like me, you will appreciate a little theater just running movies and providing the basics at a bargain price.

A very old building that is part of a baseball card shop. They usually run 3 movies, new releases, at a cheap price. It does not have the charm of some of the older theaters and the screens are fairly small and depending on the movie it can get busy. But if you dont feel like dealing with all the kids and sailors at Gurnee this is a decent place to see a movie.

If you’re not finicky about your theaters, then this place might be for you. The building’s pretty old and it’s run down. No reclining chairs or anything fancy. The restrooms are beyond funky and the floors in general are pretty gross. The plus side is that they run new releases for much less.

This theater is amazing, TWODOLLARS for a movie, not even a movie that’s been out for a while or a movie that’s not playing anywhere else because it’s so bad but the big name movies like Pirates 3 and the new Die Hard, FORTWODOLLARS. I mean it’s pretty much a hole in the wall, I visited a day after it rained and there were signs up saying beware that there was water that may have leaked in and it was slippery and the people I was with and I even saw a girl holding popcorn almost fall. They do have concessions and they let you line up a half hour in advance to buy tickets, you can’t buy ahead of time which is a good thing in my opinion. We got there kind of late for our show and were towards the back of the line but still got in and had decent seats. The theaters are relatively small and like the name of the place, it’s true they only have 3 screens. It’s amazing in itself they fit 3 screens into such a small facility. The theater itself is really awful, the seats are terrible but the fact that it’s 2 dollars a ticket makes it pretty awesome.

Great, inexpensive first run films. This location hasn’t been updated since I was a kid, but they stay open because they run good movies, cheap. I wish we had some place like this near my home, now. Great place to come if you don’t feel like shelling out $ 9.50 per person to see a movie.
