Being from near Victoria and living in SoCal, great sushi is something I have been spoiled with. I wasn’t expecting much from sushi in Finland, but I was pleasantly surprised. There was nothing really exciting and new on the menu, but the sushi was very fresh and well prepared, and really what more can you hope for. If you are craving good basic sushi dishes this will definitely make you happy.

We needed a fast lunch for two. Two California rolls and a Domo Catepillar roll was a perfect amount for two. The sushi looked absolutely beautiful and it tasted delicious as always. Best sushi place in Helsinki for sure!

Yum yum yum. The oyakodon and gyudon were both so good. Perfect size as well. The rice was perfect the meat was perfectly seasoned… not much else to say! Good stuff :) We got edamame but it was pre shelled so no popping fun, they had different seasonings though which was a nice twist.

So far I have been spoiled by the good sushi in Helsinki at Sushibar + wine near Kamppi. Time for a small change in diet and check if I am not missing out great sushi. Domo is close by Kamppi as well. The place has a nice simple Japanese touch to it. Went for the asparagus and two kinds of sushi. Must say the sushi’s were good, but a bit too expensive for my liking. Service is really, really fast and nice. Dishes are traditional Japanese, no scandic flavour to it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good food, but I will stay at my regular place. Better price/quality.

I am turning Finnish. By that, I mean places I would have 1-starred in the US are now elevated to 3-stars here and 3-stars are now elevated to 5. What’s that? You didn’t see what I just did? I politely implied that the food here is nothing to(literally) write home about. On that note, I’d still give Domo a 4 by US standards. I am not an adventurous person and I was pregnant when I was there twice so no raw fish for me. But the vegetarian sushi I had was great. The miso soup was very tasty. The seaweed salad? Just no. Run screaming. It tastes like it was farmed in the part of the Baltic Sea with the highest levels of chemical contamination. Minus one big radioactive star. That aside, the interior reminds me of the sushi shacks in San Fran or NY. It’s awfully zen in there and at the same time manages to be warm and cozy enough that you forget you just almost froze your tits off walking a block to get here from the shopping centers. It’s super close to Stockmann, Forum, and Kamppi but far enough away that there aren’t irritating crowds and lines to wait in(why are there always lines in this city? It’s like the freaking soviet union except you have to pay). Very good service, very cheap(by Helsinki standards) prices, and high quality tasty food. I am a fan. I’ll come back. I’ll give praise. I will not touch the radioactive seaweed. Sorry, guys. You gotta work that out.

My favorite Japanese restaurant in Helsinki. Always fresh and great quality. Best sushi and nice bento boxes. Definately worth the price. I recomend the lunch, great value for money.

just had a tasty sushi lunch here. decent décor, discrete service and lovely food. a little pricey for lunch(hence the dropped star) but a satisfying experience quality wise. will be back.
