SAS Business Lounge

Three stars is the most I can give! As far as Star Alliance lounges go, all I can say is that this lounge is roomy and comfortable. The staff are efficient, very friendly and helpful. However, the food & beverage offerings are pretty basic though this is the first airline lounge where red and white wines as well as beer were on tap. The bottled varieties are also offered, but there is no bar and «spirits» or hard liquor of any kind are not available; hard to imagine given the locals have for being huge consumers of alcohol.
Functional is the only additional adjective I can apply to this space. BTW, there is a small business area with three desk top computers and a printer available as well as plenty of room for those who bring their own devices. Free WIFI is a given.

Airport lounge shoot-​out: Part ¹⁄₅
This is the first of five airport lounges that I visited recently over a two week period. The lounge was mostly empty and very quiet on this Sunday morning visit. I burned about an hour here before my flight. Previous visit to this lounge was many years ago.
Pros: The breakfast spread was typical Finnish style — bread, cheese, ham, hard boiled eggs, various cereals. Coffee was good — I had three cappuccinos, then some orange juice. Free WiFi — you get that anyway at this airport, but a more private network is a plus. Self serve beer, wine, sparkling. Some chips and savory snacks that I didn’t sample this time.
Cons: The offerings are limited compared to larger SAS lounges like the one in Copenhagen. They don’t announce flights, but that’s more of a personal preference — enjoy the silence but keep your eye on the monitors.
Fact is, this is the only Star Alliance lounge at this airport so it’s hard to complain too much :) I’d rate it between some United lounges I’ve visited and the SAS Copenhagen lounge. All in all, solid experience and I’ll be back.

Good lounge… very SAS efficiency next to gate 15 Terminal 1

My first time every to qualify for a business lounge: so this is how the fancy people live. The food selection was not too heavy so I ventured out for dinner, but there were adequate snack foods for later. Where else can you get beer and wine unlimited on tap, I ask you? Not too many people compared to the other lounge I went to later which was nice. Clean and functional, very Finnish.

The SAS lounge at Helsinki airport is your basic airport lounge. Located in Terminal 1 it is easy to find just after security. The lounge has a clear Scandinavian feel to it with fairly modern design and as such is much nicer than the Finnair lounge (the within Schengen one) but fairly similar to the Aspire lounge.
The lounge is usually fairly empty unless traveling at real peak times. They provide a decent selection of newspapers and magazines as well as free wifi (but is anyway free at the airport) and some computers.
Food wise it is not great but there is always some fruit and snacks as well as (depending on time of day) either some salad and (cold) fish/​meat or breakfast. For me the average European airline lounge these days (so not top as some of the nice lounges like BA at Heathrow or LH at Frankfurt). Good for something to drink (coffee, tea, sodas and wine, beer and hard liquor) and some eace and quiet. The sas flights also always depart right outside the lounge so convenient then.

I was quite happy to discover this lounge right by my gate, with a wonderful, fulfilling espresso machine. Double espresso for the win, especially at 6am.
A cold, dreary morning with long flights ahead and turned into a caffeine fueled day of energy. Bzzzzzz

A below average SAS lounge in terminal 1 at Helsinki Airport. It has poor soundproofing so it is quite noisy. The food is ok, service great, but wifi (current PW is «saslove» :-)) not to good compared to other Finnish providers.
It has a long walk to the «good» tax free shops in terminal 2.
