I love Eddie Rocket but not the one in DONNYBROOK, one waitress and a friend of hers sabotage my order every time I go there, all the other staff are fine but it’s the fear that they may have done something else to my food that worries me. I do not know them and as it’s Takeaway it’s too late by the time I get home. Don’t go there it’s not safe

What can I say? Late night munchie attack and we felt like burgers. We’d been to the Beerfest at RDS and they closed the hamburger stand down before we could get to it. We had socializing to do, ya know? Anyway– Eddie Rockets has great burgers. I like the M-50 with shrooms, NYC cart onions and so forth. You pretty much always know what to expect here. Great malts and at some of them, you can even get root beer ;-)

I’ve been craving a burger for days… and then someone suggested we go off campus for lunch — all the way to Eddie Rockets in Donnybrook. Ah burger and malt heaven… I was annoyed on arrival by stupid people parking across two spaces outside which meant I had to find other exorbitantly priced pay and display parking round the corner — the horror! But then we got inside and experienced the familiar safeness of Eddie’s. mmmm classic burger! They’ve got a new menu now and some things are quite a bit cheaper… not the malts though :(but anyway it was good. I was so enthused by my burger that I ate it too fast and now feel a bit sick, but that’s not the fault of eddies… more the fault of ignoring your burger craving for too long. Don’t ignore your burger craving!

«Its gotta be Eddie Rockets All the Way» yeah right! Well, its not that bad, its like an expensive mcDonalds with real knives forks and plates etc… I used to love this place when i was younger, everything seemed so tasty and liek real food compared to other fast food places but i grew out of all that. Now its just the same as all the other places except it is a bit more expensive, hence the name it has earned«empty pockets» This is a haunt for local school kids really, they are still at the age where you love Eddie rockets… soon they will learn!

If you want to delve further into the world of Ross O’Carroll Kelly and all the other southside rugger bu**ers then this is the place to be after hours on a Friday/Saturday night. If you have no interest in investigating the above, then it’s best visited during daytime hours/early evening. It seems a bit old fashioned now(ironic for a retro-themed diner) but at least you know what you’re going to get — i.e. the same as in any other Eddie Rocket’s! This is comfort food plain and simple, and in all fairness I can’t say enough about the chicken fillet burgers and the vanilla milkshakes…

This isn’t the original restaurant in the Eddie Rocket’s chain, but I for one would argue that it is the quintessential Eddie Rocket’s. Located as it is in Donnybrook, this particular Eddie Rocket’s is located in the heartland of the chain’s core customer base: bored, posh teenagers, with little else to do but sit around in Eddie’s all day. Sit in a booth and watch as the girls flick their hair incessantly, observe the boys in their rugby jerseys and school hoodies act the maggot in order to impress the girls. Often, these kids have very little money, having spent it all in Brown Thomas earlier on in the week, so you will sometimes see about twelve of them sitting in a booth with two portions of chili-fries between the lot of them, whereupon the usually pleasant but in this instance slightly harried Chinese manager will boot them out. And be sure not to go there on Saturday evenings, as this is when«the Wezz» is on, «the Wezz» being a junior disco, when scores of inappropriately dressed children will descend upon the place and talk in exaggeratedly posh voices(is it Friday or Saturday that the Wezz was on? It’s been so long since my time there that I’ve forgotten). So, if you’re planning on writing a Ross O’Carroll-Kelly-esque series of books, or want to conduct a sociological survey on south Dublin teens, then Eddie Rocket’s in Donnybrook is the place to go. On the other hand, if you just fancy a bit of grub, perhaps head along to any of the other outlets of this fine establishment if this is at all possible.
