Not good compared to other Aldis. A lot of stuff was of poor quality and were not properly stocked. It was also really dirty and poorly organized. I’d much rather go to the Lidl down the street. in fact I might even possibly prefer the Tesco a block down…

One of the smaller Aldi branches. But packs what is necessary and you’ll also find few weekly deals in there as well. Nice Aldi, I love this Aldi way more than Lidl in Moore street. Here you can get normal size trolleys.

This is my locale Aldi. It’s not a large or as new as many, but they are pretty good and have everything you need. The trick to this location is timing. As it is in the city centre during peak hours it is mental and the two queues are massive. Make sure to try and visit during the morning or later on weekends.

Did my first ever Aldi shop — woohoo! Bought loads and it came to € 22, amazing!(I’ve been shopping at Superquinn and Eurospar, yes silly olé me) Things are a bit haphazard but I can imagine I’ll find things quickly enough after shopping a few times here. Have not tried out any of the purchased items yet so I can’t comment on the quality yet. Just in time — the savings could go to those additional pints over the Paddy’s weekend.

While not being the biggest or the best Aldi around, it does the job. As everyone before me has said, the prices are rock-bottom, so saying you spent € 30 at Aldi is like saying you spent € 60 or € 70 somewhere else. The special buys sell out pretty fast here with a few funny exceptions like sauces and spices(which can hang around for months and they never take away). The queues can get pretty long, but because of how fast they scan the items you hardly notice. Customer service was the first thing to go by the wayside when they dropped the prices. No eye contact from the people at the till is the price you pay for such famously fast scanning(why do you think all the products have huge barcodes on three sides?). If you think they’re staring at you with particularly irritated impatience as you pack the fruit into your overflowing bag and fish the last few cents out from your purse to make exact change when they’ve already finished scanning your last item… it’s because they are. While there aren’t any brand names on the shelves, I have been assured that brand-name goods often lurk inside, but the packaging has been changed so they are allowed to lower the price. I like that they have a couple of organic items for low prices(milk, eggs, yogurt, smoked salmon, cereal bars… random, I know) and free-range chicken, but disappointed that they got rid of their organic fruit and veg a while ago. Still, it’s the cheapest place I’ve found here for exotics like avocados, corn, and smoked salmon, none of which I could live without. It does what it says on the tin, folks– a discount supermarket, so some sacrifices must be made to cut the prices. Be warned that Aldi only takes cash or laser/visa debit cards.

I have a lot of time for this Aldi. I recently shopped here for the first time when I was assigned the responsibility of a salad for a dinner party. Knowing a lot of people were coming and conscious not to break the bank I ventured here hoping to pick up the ingredients for a cut-rate. I was mindful that the low price may compromise the quality, which I obviously wasn’t happy about but during these testy economic times I could not afford to shop in another place more renowned for stocking finer food. To my shock(if I am honest I will admit to pre-judging this store to be below-par on account of its notability in stocking cheap goods) and happiness the stockpile was wide-ranging and of authentic and respectable quality. The vegetables were ripe, fresh and rich in colour — markedly, the tomatoes were all a profound red, looking as healthy as can be. Aldi is much more comprehensively stocked than somewhere like the Superquinns beside me in Ranelagh village. It is therefore unfair that Aldi gets unfairly labeled as insufficient on account that it’s low prices appeal to the lower class’ finances and so dubbed as something unworthy by many condescending Dubliners. The range of goods on offer is more expansive, the variety of items more multipurpose as they really do try and stock every necessity you could possibly hanker after and more staff are on hand to help. Superquinn can be seen as a bit of supercilious store — a bit pompous and in existence to provide for the more haughty Dublin residents, but this certainly does not reflect in its attention to customer service nor variety of stock and I can confidently say that it is Aldi who provide a much more ample and wide-ranging shopping experience and for a significantly cheaper price.

Aldi is a little more downmarket than Lidl, with practically no known brands on the shelves. This branch on Parnell Street is a little grim-looking, especially at the dark, enclosed porch entrance, but it is a good size and has all the Aldi favourites that you expect — a great range of meats and cheeses, frozen goods and those crazy special offers, from metal detectors to dressing gowns.

I went to Aldi after several friends suggested I go check out the rock bottom prices. I walked into the store and was seriously confused. Why had this place come so highly recommended? First of all, there isn’t actually that much in the store. Most of the shelves are on the periphery of the store, with the middle being occupied by large baskets holding various crap from towels to tv remotes. My initial distaste gave way to shock, things really are SOCHEAP there. I bought as much as my little arms could carry and it barely made a dent in my wallet. As another review mentioned, the cheese is good quality and the cheapest in the city. Other good basics to find here are large bags of pasta and things like toilet paper and soap. If you really want to shop at Aldi, I would suggest you check out the one in Rathmines, as it is much more extensive and just seems a bit nicer.

Aldi itself is a terrible place to shop. It’s kind of manky looking inside, the aisles are too narrow, it’s just not a happy experience. However, it is dirt cheap and I used to periodically make my way there for two reasons: 1. Cheese — they have a good cheese selection and I like to stock up on their dirt cheap flavored bries. 2. Booze — no name brand liquors, but they do the job and they do it half the price of their name brand counter parts. Aldi also has random miscellanious items, I never had use for any of them, but I have heard of people picking up good bargains there from time to time.

Aldi provides extremely good value for money in terms of food and drink. The fruit and veg are excellent, also super cheap, and they have very good promotions. Likewise, you can save a bundle if you buy your alcohol here instead of going to the off licence. This store is located in the centre of dublin, on parnell street, and is quite useful if you are shopping on a budget. Lower cost does not mean substituting on taste or value when shopping at aldi.

Einziger Aldi in der Innenstadt Dublins. Zentral gelegen.
