Me and my wife just decided to go here because we wander a lot and got hungry. We got to the front door and got sat watered and a drink in front of us within seconds it seemed! We sat at the counter I was right next to the water picture“I drink a lot of water especially after hiking” still never even got close to running out of water! They would know exactly when you needed more beer, as I tested when I drank the last gulp of my beer as I set it down the manager popped up and I got another within moments. I could not be more impressed by the manager and how she has her well oiled machine staff functioning! We went to a Michelin star restaurant in Scotland as it was our 10 year anniversary and this place totally smoked them! Yeah I just said that! You must go eat hear as its not easy to find such attention to detail around Ireland or Scotland! Oh ps the food was great the oysters were beyond compare loved it all thank you. I hope one day to come back.

Good fish for good value in nice location, just off Grafton. Contemporary environment and the food is good, not amazing, but I think value for money it really does it! Had the fish burger, which was a battered cod. It was loads of batter and not so much fish, and it was served with some mayonese sauce which was alright. It didn’t change my life but it was a nice treat, indeed. My friend ate the hake, which I do think was a better choice. It looked really soft and meaty at the same time, topped with some green I think it was pesto. They do five or so wines by the glass, which worked well for this casual Sunday evening dinner. They do not do reservations for parties less than 6, so if you want a table for Friday and Saturday you may want to go there early!

Not a bad fish restaurant. I did think for the prices that the food could have been a little bit better. We had calarmi for starters which was nice, but the calamari was quite tough to eat. Presented with an excellent side salad. My main course was the fish burger which was good. Maybe could have had a bit more taste in the toppings? My main problem was that there were two bones in the fillet fish. One of them an inch long. In a burger that is a little bit of a let down. My wife had the Salmon which she enjoyed, there was loads of it. Considering it was a small plate. The staff were friendly and its very central to Dublin so a nice spot.

A nice first visit to Catch-22. Bright and comfortable, we were warmly welcomed by the nice team here. All super friendly and all wearing bright smiles. Quickly given some water, they also dropped down some complimentary white bait. I’d not tried it before… actually to be honest I’d never tried any very small fish whole before. But I thought«feck it, it’d be rude not to». So I dived in and ate one whole! A little bit fishier than I’d normally go for when it comes to fish & seafood(yup, I’m weird), but it was grand. We shared the calamari for a starter, which was nice, a lovely chilli Mayo dip. The dressing on the side salad was yum too. As a main I had the smoked salmon from the starter list, which was delicate and soft like smoked salmon should be. The one flaw I found with my food was the Guinness bread that came with the salmon was dry and crumbled easily. My hubby had the fish burger and said it tasted good. However a few stray fish bones took away from it a little for him. The highlight of his dish was definitely the chips. They were goooooood. I also had a glass of the Benovie Rosé. It was delicious. Really really good. For two starters, one main and a glass of wine it came to 41EUR. Which is grand for a dining experience just off Grafton Street. Worth a look.

Cute little shop next door to the oldest Wine Bar in Dublin. The fish and chips were really good — some of the best I had while in town. It’s a short walk from Grafton Street. Server was extremely cordial and made us feel very welcome.

Incredible, fair priced seafood restaurant in the city centre of Dublin. I came here on my last day in Dublin, my Irish friend told me I can’t leave Ireland without trying some Irish Seafood Chowder, so Unilocal led me here! There was only a few people here when I showed up around 4:30 pm on a Wednesday so I was immediately seated at the long table along the front window. Very cool interior and environment and the seat I was at allowed for some excellent people watching while eating. After taking my drink order, they brought complimentary whitebait with lemon mayo, which was a great addition to the overall dining experience here. I ordered their signature Catch-22 craft beer, which a local Irish brewery makes just for them, which was excellent.(Since I knew I’d probably end of writing a review of the place, of course I had to try them all!) The black IPA is the only one I wasn’t the biggest fan of, but I loved the U.S. Pale. For food, I ordered the Chunky Creamy Chowder, which is considered a starter on the small fry menu, but after some beer, the bread it comes with and the complimentary whitebait, it was more then enough for me. I love clam chowder normally, and this was about ten times better then most good clam chowder I’ve had. I made sure to thank my friend for the seafood chowder recommendation immediately after I finished it! There are other seafood restaurants in the area that are at least twice the price for definitely not twice the quality. I highly recommend this place if you’re going to be in the area and want some great food and a very nice ambiance!

Loved this place. Service was great and staff were so friendly. The mussels are so delicious, could have used more bread as there was so much sauce left over and it was too nice to not have. Make sure to go in and reserve a table an hour before you need to eat as there will definitely be a wait. The wait is worth it though!

Not often I give top marks on first visit but I was really impressed by Catch 22. We arrived around 6.30 and seated straight away. They don’t take reservations. We were seated at the high tables and I thought oh no this won’t be comfortable but the chairs were very comfortable. It’s quite small inside but extends back and you never feel squeezed. The acqua theme extends to the blue signage and lighting. The mussels were plump and so good dare I say possibly the best I have had. The Mackerel was cooked perfectly and the side salad was fresh with a wide selection of greens that were quite bitter so balanced well against the oily fish Nice wine selection and priced fairly. They also have a good beer offering My only criticism is the water wasn’t kept topped up as frequently as I would like.

I can’t give this anything other than a five. It was absolutely fantastic. Managed to get a table here on a Friday evening. They don’t take bookings but they will take your name and then call when the table is available. There are a couple of bars nearby you could wait in! We were sat at one of the high tables but it wasn’t uncomfortable. They brought us complimentary white bait with lemon mayo. I didn’t think I’d like those but they were v good indeed. I had the smoked salmon with Guinness bread to start. Then I had the fillet of fish burger with sweet potato fries and to finish I had the chocolate fondant and a single espresso. The smoked salmon was fab as was the Guinness bread. The fillet of fish was cod and it was perfection! My mouth is watering just thinking about it :) The chocolate fondant just oozed when I stuck my spoon into it. Sooo yummy. The staff are so lovely! They’re friendly and attentive but not over the top. Will definitely try return here — superb!

Was here recently with a large group of friends catching up in the midst of all the crazy Christmas madness. We had made a reservation, but unfortunately our table was not yet ready when we arrived. We were told we could either grab a drink in the pub next door while we waited, and they would come get us; or, we could sit in the outdoor seating area and have a drink while we waited. We decided to opt for the outdoor area(which luckily had heaters and blankets). Almost as soon as I received my glass of wine the table was ready and in we went. Their food is quite reasonably priced given how expensive I find it often is to eat in this area. We started with the crab claws, mussels, calamari and prawns(i mean… it was a BIGTABLE). At this point, I was starving, and luckily they placed some small breaded fish appetizer on our table while we waited for our appetizers. I think they were small sardines or something; they were okay, but I was so hungry I’d have eaten anything at that point. The appetizers came, and everything was absolutely fantastic. I had the Shellfish pot, because it was recommended by our waitress. I will say, the shellfish pot was good, but by the end I felt like I was burning more calories trying to get everything out of the shells than I was taking in by eating it. I mean, I don’t know what I was expecting ordering a shellfish pot, ha ha. But that being said it was very tasty. I’ll probably order something else the next time I go. All in all a great spot, especially if you’re a fan of seafood.

Delicious seafood with reasonable prices. Our group of 7 ate here this weekend, and the food was excellent. To start we shared the crab claws, mussels, calamari and prawns. Everything was wonderful, especially the crab claws and the calamari. I also had a bite of J’s seafood chowder, which was so delicious. For mains, several people had the signature shellfish pot, I had the hake, and someone else had the cod and chips. The portions were huge and the seafood tasted so fresh. My hake was light and flaky and the salsa verde was a lovely addition. To finish we had a few espressos and I decided to try the lemon tart. It was fine, but I probably won’t order it again. Apart from that, this was such an enjoyable meal. Make sure to give their Catch-22 brew a try as well!

A really nice small restaurant with friendly staffs. The prices on the menu wasn’t too bad. It’s just that I felt there were too many deep fried food/fish on the menu that might be a little off putting. We ordered crab claws, chowder, calamaris, seafood pot and sweet potato fries. All the portions were pretty generous especially for the big pot of seafood. I personally felt the chowder was the best out of all, but wasn’t the best I had. All the seafood here felt it wasn’t that fresh and was pretty small. The mussels and clams were very small, but had loads of mussels in the pot. The crab meat were pretty dry and tiny. Was not the freshest or best seafood, but the price was decent. Totalled up to € 57.50.

Coming from howth and living in town this year I have found myself craving a good seafood restaurant! I gave catch-22 a try on Saturday and was not disappointed Between 3 of us we got the crab claws, calamari, gambas and shellfish pot. Not to mention the complementary whitebait to begin! Plenty of food for 3 people and we washed it down nicely with a bottle of picpoul de pinet! The staff were a credit to the place they were enthusiastic and helpful which is always refreshing! No doubt I’ll be back here soon again

Found this spot unexpectedly today. Rambled in due to the crab claw availability, something very hard to come by in Dublin’s fair city. After placing our order a complimentary cup of polenta coated deep fired whitebait landed to keep us busy. A nice surprise, and also really tasty. M’lady ordered the crab claws, I went for the Shellfish Pot. WOW! Possibly the tastiest mussel/seafood dishes I’ve ever had, and I spend a lot of time on the West Coast devouring everything the Atlantic has to offer. I’ll keep it simple, if you like seafood… go to Catch 22.

What a find — this place is a must for folks that like fish and it was buzzing with customers on a Saturday early afternoon — no reservations just walk on in & hopefully there’ll be a table. The signature dish being a mixed shellfish pot was fabulous and comes with fresh bread so you will be full after this. The oven baked mackerel were the best I’ve had ever, anywhere — this was not some scrawny thin mackerel this was full-some and melted in the mouth — beautiful, oh and it went well with a side order of mushy minted peas. Staff were happy, friendly and attentive too Definitely we’ll be back to try other menu items !!

This place really is a catch… ok, apologies for the cheese but you get the idea! Great location, just off Grafton Street on South Anne Street, Catch-22 really grabs your eye with the bright blue exterior. They have a nice seating area outside and the décor inside is nautical without being tacky! It’s not that big but there’s enough space for maybe 30 – 40 between inside and outside and what I liked was that the tables are not on top of each other so you can enjoy your meal without being squashed! The menu has a great selection of seafood, with the Shellfish Pot being the speciality. There’s also some nice non-seafood options and salads too. We opted to share a small portion of mussels to start and then we both went for the fish burger for main. Before the starter we were given a portion of polenta-fried whitebait with a lemon mayo and although they wouldn’t usually be my thing, it was a nice start to the meal. The mussels though were the real winner for me. I almost gave this place five stars for the mussels alone but as the fish burger didn’t set my world on fire and I’ve had better in some other Dublin spots, I couldn’t justify it. They mussels were really well cooked and the sauce was beautiful. They were served with crusty white bread and although the small portion was a really decent size, I would definitely order the large one next time. The staff were friendly, the service was good and the food was great. I’ll definitely be back to Catch-22, if I can get a table that is!

I really wanted to like this place, I love the idea. We were given some complimentary whitebait which was good, the accompanying Mayo was very bland, needed a kick of garlic, salt and pepper. C had the calamari with fries, I had the cod with ruby slaw. Fish was a little overcooked, and the tartare sauce was way too salty, ruined the fish. Ruby slaw was very good. Calamari was excellent as were the fries. Service was good, nice busy buzzy atmosphere on a Friday lunchtime.

This is a great addition to Dublin’s food scene: a stylish but casual seafood joint with great food at great prices. Catch 22 is well worth a visit: the staff are warm and welcoming, the food is delicious and they even serve their own craft beer! It’s well located too on South Anne Street just off Grafton Street — right across from Keogh’s pub.

This place is great, they deliver what they promise, which is fresh seafood served simply, they do the job and more. Excellent location and very cosy clean feel interiors. The service was nothing but perfect and the staff were extremely friendly! The fish dishes were fresh and cooked right, the mussels were absolutely amazing and the portions were very generous. And to top it all off, you won’t actually break the bank having food there, it’s all reasonably priced and very affordable. Will definitely give it another go.

Just had such a nice meal at Catch 22! I saw this place a couple of weeks ago when walking down South Anne Street with a friend. We were drawn in by the bright blue awning(adorable) and super friendly and chatty owner outside. My fiancée and I made it there tonight after a battle of the wills over Crackbird(him) or Catch 22(me). Somehow I won(muahah) and we ended up here. We’re both glad we did. The staff is friendly, attentive, and gave us complimentary whitebait while we waited(!!) These little whole fish are lightly breaded, salty and served with mayo(or maybe an aioli?) Yum. I ordered the hake for my main and my fiancée got the shrimp scampi, and we both loved our dishes. My hake had an herby crust and came with a salsa verde with they serve along the outside of the plate. It’s alongside two roasted tomatoes and a choice of chips or salad. I chose the salad, and my meal was so light and perfect. My fiancée loved his scampi, I snagged a shrimp and can confirm it was tasty deliciousness. We both licked our plates clean, and we are not ashamed. Bonus — it came out to less than € 30 for two for dinner(sans alcohol but still). Welcome to the hood, Catch 22! We’ll definitely be back
