Elite Event – Juno’s Cafe Noshiness

Hands down, this has been one of my favorite events! The service and style was perfectly on-​point (being handed a glass of lovely prosecco as soon as I enter the door is an excellent first impression), and the laid-​back atmosphere of the place really set the tone for a great evening.
We were served a smörgåsbord of samples from their menu — 4 appetizers, 3 mains; 3 desserts. I wish this method were more common! We were also led through a series of red and white wines by Ben, their wine vendor, which accompanied the dishes wonderfully (my favorite was their white Vermentine)!
Food-​wise, my my stand-​out favorites were the fish cake to start, followed by the angus beef steak (I’m still remembering it fondly), and the chocolate brownie. I don’t cross into the Northside for much, but I’ll have to make the exception for Juno’s.

It was a brilliant event. I was not expecting to have so much food and most of it delicious, well aside from the risotto and that’s only because I can’t stand goats cheese.
I was certainly not expecting the impromptu wine tasting. I’ve never been on one and it was great to have 8 wines pretty much side by side so I could taste the difference and even better, to be introduced to wine/​grape types I have never come across before like Vermentino.
Everything was wonderful, even the welcome glass of prosecco.
The only possible thing that could have been better, and maybe this was me just not paying attention was the easter egg prize. I didn’t hear we were supposed to be uploading the pics as we were taking them. I thought we would upload them later. I was probably not paying attention but at least I got a kinder egg out of it. Actually 3 kinder eggs because the bag of leftovers was abandoned in Ryan’s so a few of us nabbed them before non Unilocalers helped themselves.
Well done Elle V, I just love little sample like dishes and those deserts alone were worth the trip.

well done Emily for an excellent event and for Elle V for making it a great sucess. On the evening of the event we were welcomed with a glass of procecco while the chefs prepared our special dishes. once ready we were led to our tables and given a talk on all their wines which had been chosen from countries such as Spain, Brazil and Australia and then given a sample of each from the wine expert!
So then onto the starters which were a selection of calamari and chorizo and fishcake with asparagus and in the past i have had calamari which tasted a bit rubbery but not here, it was lovely and tender and made me a fan of the dish again and the fishcake had just the right amount of fish rather than made up with tons of potato.
The mains were steak served rare with garlic butter, lamb burger on a bed of rocket, goats cheese risotto and sweet potato wedges and all was delicious. I couldnt eat the steak as i didn’tn like the sight of blood and i thought i heard a bleat as i cut into the meat!
one little gripe i had was that the mains were coldish but i realise that was probably as we were a group and the chefs had to keep waiting for the wine expert who was busy filling everyones’ glasses!
Even the coffee at the end which was Ariosta smelled divine (i couldn’t drink it as it was late and i would have been bouncing off the roof and im already hyper enough!) but i’ll be back for more.

The exterior is deceiving! Very classy so far!
Please see my review of the Elite event. It’s very long but very positive. If you don’t have access to it, then just know this, the food is amazing. The quality is outstanding. The service is what you would only hope for.

While I would like to claim to have been fashionably late for this event, this is me we’re talking about, so I was merely late. Nevertheless I was greeted with a glass of prosecco and ushered over to a group of nattering Unilocalers, and then seated in a cosy nook at the back of the restaurant. The menu looked great, with four starters, four mains, and three desserts. I assumed we would have to make a choice, but no! We were presented with smaller but substantial portions of every single thing.
I couldn’t manage dessert. I really couldn’t. This, obviously, was a tragedy of huge proportions, but my fellow Unilocalers helped me in my hour of need and helped themselves to mine. Go Team!
It was a lovely event in a really lovely venue. Juno’s is unexpectedly pretty inside and is a quirky, cool café/​restaurant with personality and a calm but fun atmosphere. The food is amazing, and I mean amazing. Every plate I could see was completely cleared after each course. It matches the best food I’ve had in Dublin city centre, easily. The food was paired with wines by the very informative sommelier were lovely. I love being told about the wheres, whys and wherefores of wines when tasting, it really enhances the experience, especially with great food.
A great event hosted by a lovely spot. It’s only a hop skip and jump from the city centre, and well worth it. Thanks Juno’s and thanks Emily!

Here for a Unilocal event, I could not be more impressed with this new restaurant near the Phoenix Park.
The proprietors enthusiasm for great food (that’s sourced in Ireland as much as it can be) was clear, as was the passion she had for the business she created.
Before we ate we were shown the eight wines on their list by a representative of their wine suppliers, Liberty Wines. My favourites of each were the Vermentino and the Corvina.
On each plate we got was a sample of each dish on each course. So four starters on one plate, then the four mains and finally the three desserts. All of it was good, really good. But what stood out from the crowd for me:
Fishcake starter, which had lots of real fish in it. Not a potato cake flavoured with fish.
Gubbeen chorizo et al. Fabulous and the Pinot Grigio really went well with it too.
Angus steak, with the little bit of garlic butter on it, was divine.
Crème Brulee, heaven. The sugar topping was perfect.
Cheesecake, immense. My favourite of the three desserts.
You could have rolled me home I was so full. I didn’t want to leave anything unfinished it was all so good.
An excellent meal. I will be back to Juno’s Café for more and recommend it to anyone who loves good food to check it out.
