I stressed a bit over the stars. I feel like this place is deserving of two and a half but obviously that’s not possible. The sign says it all: Elixir(Irish & Italian food). Confused? So was I so I went in. Elixir as you may know is Greek which is a potion type thing that back in the toga wearing days was supposed to make you live for ever… It didn’t really work out for them in hindsight. Irish and Italian food… Call me old fashioned but I think you should stick with one type of food and do it really well as opposed to having a very poor attempt at both. It’s like two-timing, you always get found out and then nobody likes you and you begin nun life once again… But it get’s more confusing… The owner is from Latvia. Really nice guy, shockingly nice but I wanted to shake him and say why didn’t you open up a Latvian restaurant. Actually he told me why. He believes that us Irish are not into food from that part of the world. I would beg to differ. The menu was pricey enough for what you got. I played it safe and went for the pizza… It was ok, not very authentic but then again why would it be in a place that is suffering from a serious identity crisis. Pity because it’s a great space. Good location. Owner is nice as I said before but why people endeavour on expensive projects without doing market research or straying from what they know is beyond me.
