Before you start to write a review on Unilocal you have to decide what star rating to give it, 5 stars comes up as «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» and you know what? that pretty much covers it… really, and I know nearly every Thai eatery in the city!

Nope, not«mange tout» as in French, it’s a funny play on it and a derivitive of ‘Mangetsu’ the Japanese meaning for Full moon. Oooh. This used to be Snap Printing so this funky Asian restaurant was a real treat when it opened up. It’s very trendy inside, a little like a China White night club(if you’ve been inside one, lots of white furniture) but it’s very nicely done. They’ve got great little sections so whether your out for a girly dinner, romantic meal or a bite with the family it will suit your needs. Complimentary spicy prawn crackers are a great way to start the meal(and get a thirst) and then I love the drunken noodles and have had them every time I’ve been here. They have a nicely varied menu with lots of price ranges to choose from too. Super nice and a great little find. Didn’t know that they did take out until James A’s review — thanks James! I’ll definitely be taking advantage!

Firstly, it’s pronounced manga-too. You don’t want to make the same mistake I did by pronouncing it mangetout — as in the vegetable — because it will probably leave you feeling a little confused, and slightly silly, like it did to me. Situated a little off the beaten track(Haddington Road is just down from Baggott St bridge near the canal), this Asian restaurant is ultra modern without being too over the top. Let’s get to the food. It’s everything you expect from an Asian restaurant. No, you wont leave feeling like you’ve just visited the country itself, but the food is very tasty indeed. The do a very reasonable lunch menu of main courses for € 12 and the appetisers are approximately € 5. I would definitely recommend the seabass and red prawn curry. Yummy! The dinner menu is just as reasonable with mains at about € 15 and appetisers between € 6 – 8. It’s only opened quite recently and is fast becoming a popular spot, particularly at lunchtime due to all the offices and business’ it surrounds. If you’re looking for a cool, reasonably priced fancy Chinese, then this is a very good bet.

I’m a regular here, more for takeaway as it’s very close to my house, but I’ve enjoyed a few sit-down meals too. The building exterior is a stark brown brick affair, but somebody has spent a fortune on the inside, with a really spectacular modern fit out. The food, which is asian fusion, is always good. I love the spicy drunken noodles(top hangover cure), and the beef salad(which is absolutely guilt free). The cocktail list is solid and they’re well made. But the best thing is the prices, which are unbelievably low for dining of this quality in this area of Dublin. Takeaways are a true bargain. Even though the prices have crept up slightly in the last few months and the service is perhaps a touch less sharp(maybe there’s been a management change because I’ve seen a lot of new faces) I would still highly recommend Mangetu.
