Quirky, unusual jewellery. A treasure trove! I love this shop, I always stop in and have a browse when I’m nearby. They sell lots of locally handmade jewellery, brooches, bags and things like that. You’ll find one of pieces here and things you won’t find anywhere else. Fab vintage shop downstairs too. Definitely worth a look.

Wonderful spot, highly recommend for locally made goods and thrift stuff if you are visiting Dublin looking for unique and interesting things. To top it off there is a tiny, but wonderful, vegan/vegetarian café upstairs.

Was looking for a very specific purse for a shoot, so specific I couldn’t find anywhere else. Out of the hundreds of times I passed by the shop and never actually looked at it as a shop(I kind of thought it was a nice display but part of the quirky coffee place that is upstairs), it was only in my hunting mood that I realised it was a shop. There’s a nice & cool atmosphere to this place, lots of bits and unusual little things I haven’t seen anywhere else. I didn’t find the exact purse I was looking for but not too far. Joan probably makes a good point about the fairtrade goods, they do sell local craft stuff too, which is what I bought. But overall quite happy with their distinctive style and range of products.

Wish the days-open were posted. Afoot in Dublin, miles to pick up a gift for new granddaughter. Sat in the alley and waited 45 min. Closed Wednesday’s? I can’t comment on their trade goods.

i read the reviews, went to the shop, but wasn’t impressed at all. There were a few items I saw, that looked nice and novel, but were totally overpriced. If i’m going to pay the money, I want the quality. Also, about the goods being fairtrade and that at least we know where the dosh goes — well thats not totally true. A lot of this stuff is purchased in Asia, particularly Thailand, and so we know who makes it and who gets paid for it! All in all I left Camden St, as an unhappy browser!

Interesting quirky little shop, down a laneway… There was this adorable handmade teddy bear, which appeared to be made from this lovely light blousey material. As I was there to see if I could frind a present for a newborn, I instantly seized on it… it was € 38. Er, no thanks. There was another knitted teddy bear, which was € 19. Hmmm, I did think about if for five seconds… but then decided it would be easier and cheaper to post some money instead to my friends and their new baby. I continued to browse and picked up a nice bright green cotton headscarf for € 5. You could get three of these for € 12(there were lots of colours). Now these prices more suit my wallet. I continued around the shop and I found it to be well stocked in very arty and very personable cards. Again, a little on the pricey side and I would probably have bought one here for said newborn and family, but I already have a good stockpile of cards at home. So I departed presentless, but I did find the head scarf for myself. My advice is to just go and browse, you may find exactly what you were looking for.

This shop is an amazing little place. It’s right in the epicentre of the business and shop/pub/chipper packed that is Camden Street, but since it’s down a little alley way it’s seems to have managed to have kept a bit of its charm. There’s tons of options for cheap clothing these days, but every once in awhile I stop and think why is that shirt so cheap? The answer sadly is more probably than not that some unsavoury labour practices were undertaken. Mayfly solves this dilemma: it’s fair trade, the clothes are funky and cool and they’re relatively cheap for the material you’re getting. If you check in the shop they also offer classes on jewellery making and felt work amongst others and will hold private events showing how to do such things as make an old outfit look new and other great things. They also trade in the People’s Park in Dun Laoghaire on Sundays.

It was by pure accident that I discovered this newly opened designer shop, tucked away in the alley behind the Cake Café. It’s the kind of shop you need to know about to find, and that’s exactly what Unilocal is for! This one-of-a-kind shop boasts a nice selection of colourful designer wear, hand-made accessories and very cool children clothes, toys and prints. If there’s one place to go for Christmas gifts, that is, if you want something unique and creative for a reasonable price, Mayfly would be a sure bet. I covered pressies for all the little ones in the family and picked up a cool pin for myself(cause you always need to treat yourself a little after a day of shopping presents for others). You can easily loose track of time in here as there are interesting items in every corner. Finding this shop was the best part of my day. Check it out, it’s definitely worth a visit. And tell your friends!
