The atmosphere inside is just amazing. It is similar a tattoo studio and I live it. My Barber is great and he always make me really good looking

Nice guys, do a really good haircut compared to places like Grafton barber. There is a bit of a queue and you never know if you’re next or not. They know what kind of haircuts are trending which is a nice change.

Appalling service. Walked in and was not even greeted with so much of a harrumph by the only barber that day. He then proceeded on a 10 min telephone chat with someone to discuss which days he should be taking off this week. He then whipped out his phone to check for World Cup scores while another customer sat waiting in his barber chair. Needless to say, I walked out and had a much better haircut with great service elsewhere.

This place is a perfect example of an establishment taking advantage of its location and its reputation. It was 2 weeks before Chrimbo. Gurl needed to get her hair did. I had left work, had to go out for Chrimbo drinks and had the head of a Yeti. I was walking through Temple Bar and thought I would give this place a shot. A few things annoyed me as I was sitting there waiting to get barbered. Like most barbers there is no real proper queuing system and this place was a nightmare. Soooo many people, sitting in different corners of the quite large 1st floor. No one knew who was next. This made me anxious. «Who’s next?» «Eh me, or you or is it you?» «Emmmm» “OK it’s me…“ I knew it wasn’t me but I didn’t know who was next and I had to get outta there and no one questioned as no one knew who WAS actually next. So most of the barbers appear to be hipster types. *Yawn* The guy who was didding my hair was in fairness to him, a really nice hipstery type. But he did a BAD job. My hair was caked in American Crew Fibre so he offered to wash my hair. He used a hose. Yes a hose. It was not a proper shower head. So water trickled out. He barely washed it and then began to cut. A number 1 back and sides and a good couple of inches of the top. Nothing too difficult. He chatted away and in 10 minutes I was done. It looked grand to me so I said ta very much and paid him the € 20 [which I think is standard if the job is done right which at a glance it was]. When I got home I had a better goosey gander in the mirror and at closer inspection there were bits of hair that were not shaved properly at the side and the back. It was really uneven. Also I still had the neck of a Yeti. The top was also uneven and was not graduated as it should be from the back and sides. I usually go to a barbers in Cabra and every inch of your head is manscaped. They charge a tenner! In the Grafton Barbers in the IFSC they charge a little over € 20 but they do a perfect job. I wouldn’t recommend this barbers nor would I ever return. Avoid. Go somewhere else.

The gruaig was touchin nose so I figured I’d get the mop chopped. Was in town and found I had an hour to kill so I popped in here while passing through Temple Bar. Honesty this place looks OLDSCHOOL!!! The magazines are a mix of music FHM and bizarre. Which truly is a BIZARRE experience to flick through! So after a few I was up, went and sat in the Sweeney Todd style chair with a barber called Aido. What a chap! Most barbers I struggle to talk to cos of the effort. They go one of two ways and neither are something I really wanna be talkin about. Just cut the hair and get me on with my life! Sport or asking you shit about your life! Cop on like! But this fella knew his music alright! Had a right little old woman gnatter so we did. Plus he uses a cot throat style flick blade like ya see in the 50’s gang movies! Little scary, matbe but he knows what he’s doing! Great haircut too! Plus he uses ab old school

The Merchant Barber on Temple Bar Square is a traditional barbershop with all manner of barbershop implements(combs, scissors, razor blades, facial brushes etc) on display amongst their trophies and awards in the window. There’s an advert pasted to the window at the front offering free haircuts to anyone who wants their hair cut by a trainee on Tuesday evenings. They are apparently six times All-Ireland Champions and I.H.F Gents Hairdressing Champions.
