The Deli staff leave a lot to be desired. Ruined my Friday. I was laughed at, when I suggested they made the two rolls I had requested, but had none of, out of a Vienna roll. I dropped all my shopping at the nearest shelf and left. The previous day a different member of the deli staff gave out to me for not being clear with my order, even though I gave it clearly 3 times, and on top of the fact she was yapping away to her co worker and not really listening to me. I like Superquinn, but these experiences really annoyed me.

I’ve been a fan of Superquinn for years but I always thought it was a tad expensive. Not any more though. I was in this one the other day and they are doing loads of special offers and deals now so you can definitely do a shop without blowing the budget. They were selling certain brands of shampoos, conditioners and shower gels for around € 2 and they had some great reductions in wines as well. I was buying a few bottles for a party and one of the guys working in that section was really friendly and helpful, asking me if I needed a hand picking anything out. The personal touch was much appreciated. I didn’t buy any fish but I noticed that the seafood selection was wide-ranging and attractively laid out and the store as a whole was really easy to navigate. I’m absolutely planning on going back.

I dig superquinns funky new design… they are aware that they arnt exactly the cheapest going in the grocery world but they are more than aware that they are certainly not a rip off either… this gives them an opportunity to provide a slightly more superior service than dunnes of Tesco while not lowering their standards… how clever… These cunning shop keepers have made their store look more gourmet… more fancy and refined… when you shop their you feel like you are in some sort of upper class world. but everythin you see is cheap as peanuts…(Peanuts i have found to be quite expensive but you get the idea)

I confess I felt tired on budgeting and discount supermarkets and I longed for some decent fresh food so I had an ‘I know I’ll go to superquinn’ moment. Yes for some reason it’s confusingly designed, but perhaps that’s just because I’ve gotten used to the rigid layout of LiDL! The fresh fruit and veg here is particularly good… like fragrant strawberries that smell so nice you think about buying them instead of chocolate(ok not for long!) They also have an range of fresh breads and quite good fresh cakes. Although I didn’t buy any despite looking at them for a long time. Another great thing about superquinn is their sausages. No matter how much Denny try and posh themselves up they’re just not going to match these babies. If you haven’t done so already give them a try. As mentioned by others this supermarket is pricey, so I held back on buying too much… still the few items came to the same price as a far bigger shop in Aldi or LiDL would have… but still you have to have a bit of luxury now and then. They also seem to have this weird self-assessment buying system where you can take your own barcode scanner around with you — I think you have to be a clubcard member and they randomly check a few people. Weird but I can see how it would make shopping much more efficient. I don’t have a clubcard, so I didn’t try. Yes the crazy car park freaked me out too… don’t go at peak times!

Superquinn to me has always been the posh persons supermarket! I mean who can afford to do a big weekly shop here? It is so expensive! But it is a much nicer experience than Tesco or Dunnes. Superquinn does stock a lot of really high quality products, excellent selection of fresh products from fish, to breads and cakes, to a great deli and Mediterranean treats. It also has a really great selection of Irish products and small Irish business products. This Superquinn in particular has, as John S put is the worst car park in Dublin and some of the beggars outside can be vocal in there displeasure of you not parting with your change to help fund there Dutch Gold addiction! But over all this place is great for picking up some delicious goodies for that Saturday picnic or Sunday brunch.

Yes its not quite what it was, Fergal Quinn isn’t mico-managing or scaring new employee’s with his lightening fast bag packing skills and fake smiles, Superqunn Sundrive road is still pretty ok. Despite having the worst carpark in Dublin, rules of the road out the window here. Superquinn used to be the closest thing Ireland had to a relatively posh shop, although thats all changed now with even Dunnes getting in on the act. They still like to think of themselves as a cut above the rest. Translation; expect to generally pay more. Other then this and the prices its well stocked if a little confusing in layout or maybe thats just me? Very well stocked wine and beer section, bakery(great cakes to order) butchers and fish sections.
