The Black Apple Café

I went here for brunch one morning with a friend and it is very convenient as I live 5 minutes away.
It’s a lovely little café that kind of has a vintage vibe, which I love. The breakfast was OK at best, I had the small breakfast, the GF bread was however really good.
The reason for the 3 starts is that I got some GF cake to go, it was a orange, chocolate number and man was it delicious. If for nothing else I’d go back for that.

This is a great place to call into for coffee and or brunch. It’s a small café on the Harold’s Cross road. Inside sits about twenty at the most and there are also a few tables outside which are only really useful on a nice day. It can get quite busy (a good sign) around peak times, so for a Saturday brunch for example it’s best to book ahead. The staff are pleasant and helpful and there is free wifi and usually newspapers and magazines and stuff to entertain yourself with.
Regarding food– they do a range of brunch type dishes with noticeably fresh ingredients. The portion sizes are generous and it’s a fair price. I don’t think the coffee is particularly good here, but that could just be my taste in fairness. A point to note is that they aren’t open on Mondays– been caught out the odd time. Nevertheless it’s a lovely spot to stop at on a lazy day.

Nice little café. They have seating in front, two rooms inside and the patio outback so is larger than it appears. I usually stop in here for a coffee and a treat. Their breakfast is very good. Service is also wonderful

We love love love the Black Apple. We go at least once a week for breakfast, usually twice, and it’s neverfailingly lovely. Looking back over the past year and a half, my math tells me that we’ve breakfasted there more than 100 times and it’s been perfect each and every time.

Great food. Friendly staff. And the coffee is good too. I can recommend the vegetarian breakfast — potato cake is delicious.

I popped along here recently for a spot of brunch with a friend, we took seats outside as we had a dog with us, and staff were fine with this. Staff, I must say, were lovely, and very hospitable.
Both of us ordered the baked eggs, which were delicious, and came with big chunks of toasted bread and butter. However mine was minus the meat, but priced the same, and the coffee my friend ordered was so full of sediment he could only manage a few sips. He had ordered white, and it was served black with cold milk on the side, a cardinal sin in his book!
It was a perfectly adequate experience, but I really had hoped to love it, and was left feeling just a wee bit let down.

The Black Apple Café is a gem; great coffee and tasty, well prepared, food. The type of place that takes care of you e.g. I was asked did I want my coffee with or before my food and everything was served piping hot on warmed plates and cups. Get’s my top recommendation.

Just spotted this place today because they had their tables outside for the first nice day of summer. (Finally!)
Great to have a lovely spot to sit outside and enjoy your food and coffee.
Food was lovely, coffee really nice, and the staff we very nice and professional.

Such a fabulous addition to the area. I have to agree with the first reviewer. The staff are excellent and so is the coffee. The food is very fairly priced and there is a really nice variety on the menu. The place improves every time I go in.
The owners are obviously passionate about what they are doing and therefore doing it well.
