The Cake Shop is such an unexpected spot in Dublin! We got in through the stationary shop in Candem st(if you don’t know it, GOO!) and the first impression was very good, a little garden with some tables and the café right there. So quirky and warm. I had the Victorian sponge with a Chai latte and my friend had a cappuccino and a piece of lemon cake(Not the best piece. The icing was kind of hard; however everything was fine until a lady passed by the cakes and hit one that fell on the ground… 3 minutes after one of the waitress picked the piece of cake up and put it back on the tray with the rest of the pieces ready to sell! Disgusting! The floor wasn’t very clean since it was a rainy day and it was full of steps…

Very cute little spot, once you go in I guarantee you will be coming back, it’s very simple, cakes, teas and a couple of sandwiches on the menu but everything is made beautifully and the quality is always consistent there. Lovely courtyard that is perfect for a sunny day.

This place is the absolute business, really nice fresh food. The bread is absolutely perfect, the cute garden location is really nice. The only reason I am giving it four stars and not five is that it is that the seating area can become quite cramped.

This place has the best location — tucked away in a secret garden behind a stationary/paper store! There are bike racks and tables in the garden so it’s easy to access and enjoy. The food is pretty simple and fresh. Their bread is soft and grainy, and absolutely perfect. I had their chicken sandwich– and the bread was the true winner. They also make their own desserts, which are fruity and chocolatey, and all around wholesome! Highly recommend them– I received one for my bday and it had flower petals on top, so hip. The menu is pretty small, but you know when you’re eating there, that if its not homemade it’s very fresh. It is a GREAT lunchtime spot!

Nice spot, charming setup and it’s really hard not to like the staff, even when you are waiting quite a long time for your food. Which you will– they are not the fastest, but they produce some pretty awesome food for the price range. I had a chorizo open sandwich which was pretty delicious, and their home-made lemonade is the real deal, mouth-shrivellingly tart.

Lovely quirky little place off Pleasant Street. Serving good coffee and really nice cake. I couldn’t choose what I wanted so I went with the tasting plate. It’s small but even if there’s lots of people in here you don’t feel overwhelmed.

Not a secret anymore: this very hidden place in D8 is now well-known. It totally worth a visit. The place is just gorgeous and the food is amazing. This café is all pretty, full of personality and a great atmosphere. The service is a bit slow and the prices are higher than other cafes, but it’s worth a visit anyway. Last time I ordered tea plus some kind of «cake tray», so I would have the chance of try a piece of the many many cakes they have there. Here is the thing: they brought to me 5 pieces of cake. 5 tiny bits of cake. So little I couldnt even taste it properly, seriously. It was expensive and too little. I do not recommend it. Just decide which cake you want and that’s it.

What a lovely café. One of ma fav spots in Dublin and the best part is finding your way to it. Its not on the main street and has this weird location. To me its more of a tea room, lovely, and the staff are friendly and very helpful. My first visit, I started with a coffee from north Italy made of 2 shots of espresso, chocolate and thick cream(omeo deo sooo good) then i had beans on toast, after that I had tea and lemon cake for a dessert. The cake was fantastic. My second visit, I went with my sister and we ordered Coriander and chickpeas soups and baked eggs with beans. Coffee and later on we ordered tea and almond cake. Every thing was well made and prepared. I was impressed by their attitude the waiter asked us if every thing is good and indeed it was, but, he apologized to us and continued that they feel embarrassed that the food was late and they wont charge us for the food. To be honest i did not feel the service was slow at all and the place was packed at that time so it would be normal if it wasn’t fast either. I would recommend this place.

Quirky cakey goodness A lovely selection of teas and decadent cakes with some waist protecting options avalable. They also serve wonderful sandwiches and other options. A hidden gem that is jatd to find but the fact that this place is busy says allot

I live in Los Angeles, but my brother has been living in Dublin for the past few years. It’s become tradition to send him a cake from the Cake Café on his birthday. He and his girlfriend absolutely love the chocolate cake(a dessert they take seriously), and even better they decorate it so sweetly. I so appreciate the ease in which they take orders from across the globe and deliver it to him. I know he does too.

Lovely little spot! Beautiful setting in the garden… a place with a lot of character. The food is lovely and with a great selection for brunch/breakfast. We couldn’t avail a table outside since it was raining but I’d say it will enhance the experience… Tip: pay a visit to the toilet, it’s a whole experience on its own. The décor is the most unique. Reason for only 4 stars? The tables are crammed besides each other. Do not forget to visit the stationery and gift shop at the other side of the café… :)

What can be said that hasn’t already been said? This is just fabulous. I love places that are tardis-like in their presence. Completely innocuous on the outside, and an absolute haven inside. I love the bamboos growing, and being surrounded by all sides from the outside world, except for the view of the sky above. Their cakes are to die for. The food is so good, honestly you need to just try it. Homemade and decadent. Maybe stay away if you’re on a diet.(Damn you diet!!) In particular, if you’re looking for somewhere to chill, or to bring someone somewhere special and unexpected, but also cheap and cheerful; look no further!

This café is cahh-yuuu-oote. It has the feel of a little hidden treasure that you’ve found after some serious searching, like the paper-wrapped ring in the deepest corner of the barmbrack, you might say. This café is certainly cute and, not unlike any good barmbrac, it too gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside. My only advice is to keep your company to a minimum here as the seating is seriously limited and, although you might be, most people don’t take to kindly to sharing seats.

I’ve only ever tried the lemon and vanilla cupcakes I ordered for a friend’s birthday and they were truly scrumptious. The words I would use to describe them are«creamy, buttery and fluffy» and somehow they were even better the next day(or that could have just been the hangover talking) … I will definitely try lunch there some time soon.

The Cake Café is off the beaten path, in busy Dublin. The courtyard is lovely and gives off a great first impression. The café itself, inside, is small and seating is limited, but there is additional seating outside. We had a lovely breakfast, first thing in the morning and it was pretty empty. I believe there was one other group of 3 there with us. I had a yummy porridge and coffee. It was the perfect start to our busy day. Next time I am in Dublin, I will make it a point to stop by for some cake or cookies.

On the third attempt I managed to experience the famous Cake Café. Previous attempts ended in disappointment as there was no free tables. Sitting outside, I met a friend for lunch and we both opted for the BLT. I asked for mine toasted. I also went for a home-made lemonade. The BLT was fine, if a bit small, but the lemonade was really excellent. By the time we were finished the place was full up and really really busy, so I opted to go directly to the till to pay to save time. It’s cramped inside, I was constantly moving this way and that to let people by as I waited to pay. It is a nice place, especially outside area. But so cramped inside, and I really don’t like places that fit in too much into a small space. I would avoid The Cake Café when its busy and there are only tables inside. There are other options in the area that are less cramped and serve excellent lunches. Coffee Together springs to mind. I’ll be back to try some cake sometime I hear its good. But when it’s less busy methinks.

What I love most about this place is the courtyard! It just doesn’t matter if it rains or not it’s always nice to sit outside and sip their coffee… Ah! don’t forget to order a chocolate brownie… it’s delicious! I’m aware that they do food but can’t really talk about it as I’ve only eaten there once, it was for breakfast and I had the eggs and soldiers. They were nice, a bit overpriced(I think they were fancy free range eggs and bread made on the premises, the bread is delish btw)… Anyway, I just love this place, not for their food cause I had never properly eaten here but for their nice and strong cappuccino, their relaxing courtyard and of course for their A-mazing chocolate brownie… PS — They open until 8pm — Tues to Sat — so it’s perfect for that after work cappuccino…

The first time I heard about this place was from my sister, and I thought she was lying. The idea that I would go into a paper shop and demand a cake is the sort of thing she would find hilarious, so I was a little dubious coming in here for the first time this weekend. I was hungover, roasting and dying for something tasty to eat, luckily the café was not a figment of my sister imagination and I toddled into this little gem. It is a really stunningly beautiful little area, fantastic outside seating area in a quirky raggle-taggle style, and staff were particularly lovely. I got baked eggs and soldiers, which was very tasty, and a very generous pot of tea. The eggs were approximately the temperature of the earths core though, and I’m afraid I docked a star for my burnt mouth! All in all, its a really lovely little city center space, and there will be a return visit — so long as this weather lasts!

Cake café… a hole-in-the-wall or should I say paper shop(ha!); to tell you the truth I’ve never had their cake… but I have come here for brunch twice. The first time I ordered pancakes which were yummy, however more french/thin crêpe like pancakes than the american fluffy type. The second time I ordered the porridge(orange zest, hazelnuts, honey — AMAZING) and asked for cinnamon as well. It was a huge bowl of porridge and the orange zest was a first for me but definitely not a last. The place can get a little packed so come early!

I love this ‘oasis’ discovered off the gritty beaten path of Camden Street. You’ll never know it’s there unless you go exploring on foot or via the web or unless it’s recommended — which is why I recommend it! Take a break and head in either from the appropriately named alley, ‘Pleasants Place’ or via the stationery store on Camden.(Pick up a few handmade cards and then write a few notes while you’re sipping a cappuccino and forking a lemon square!) What I love most besides the warm-me-up beverages and assortment of sweets is the charm and character this place offers. Black and white checked floors and bright colored table coverings are just a start. If you sit outside, you’ll enjoy panels of art made with recycled children’s toys, bicycle parts, old CDS, etc. It’s truly a gem. I also love how the outside world seems to disappear when you enter the courtyard! If it’s ‘pleasant’(no pun intended) grab a table outside and if it’s gray and wet head inside for a warm welcoming treat. I suggest bringing a friend for some one-on-one time or going on a casual date! I noticed bites to eat for lunch as well as breakfast. And, they also offer baking classes! What a lovely spot in Dublin 2 /Dublin 8 area. Enjoy!

We thought we were lost for sure and my friend was doubting my decision to try and find this place — but once we did we were immediately glad we did! The courtyard was adorable but a little too chilly for us, so we sat inside the café which is only a few tables but provides a cozy and fun place for lunch or tea. We shared the chicken sandwich that was made on their homemade bread — yumm. Then we shared their cake bites — an assortment of treats that come with either tea or coffee. We went the coffee route and enjoyed every moment! Such an enjoyable afternoon spot!
