Worst places have ever been to in Dublin! It’s suppose to be 18 and over and I did see them turn away a lot of underage people or people without ID… The place is full of what seems to me a bunch of 15 year olds or Maybe they just act like that… My 8 year old cousin acts more mature. The music terrible 20seconds of some song on the charts followed by tunz tunz then another chart song for 30 seconds followed by tunz tunz… Mergh. Go to Pygmalion it’s much better the only thing I have nice to say about the place is the drink is cheap the bouncers are nice and so are the bartenders… That’s it.

Despite the eye-rolling most college students do about a night at the Palace, I’ve actually always enjoyed a night here. The bartenders and bouncers are all really sound, which makes a huge difference. There are decent drink deals and no bar is ever so packed that you have to wait for your drink. Deals always make the flow a lot faster at the bar. The place is pretty massive which is good. In my experience it tends to start off great and then deteriorate slowly over the night– they fill it up to capacity at least and the dance floor gets really rowdy! I’ve never seen it at any other nightclub; there’s always pushing and shoving going on, and since it’s in a confined circle with steps out of it, it’s pretty hard to avoid. The best thing about Palace though has always been the music. The DJ is genuinely in the zone for the whole night and really concentrates on mixing songs that sound good one after the other. The one on Thursdays, or at least up to Thursdays this time last year(last time I went) plays a brilliant mix of not-so-chart hiphop music too, which has my heart of course.

the bouncers here are very nice and friendly. they are easy to talk to and handle issues very calmly. it is a fairly big venue and the vip area is also nice. the smoking area quite relaxing and it is surprisingly spaces. there is a few levels of the smoking area.

Came here for an event that a friend was having. Have to complement the palace on their bouncers. Some of the soundest bouncers I’ve ever seen in Dublin. Not rude, obnoxious or on a power trip like the ones around the corner on harcourt street. Decent sized club as well with a great smoking area and dance floor. Was fairly impressed.

Went here after the leaving. Quite a nice place but they pack it out. It is very warm. At the start of the night they didn’t have drinks that were on the promotion list which was disappointing. By the end of the night I had a great time. Great for students.

Started college in Dublin this year after finishing school so main priority of going to studying in the city was to explore the nightlife. Palace nightclub is a cracking spot. Most people who live in around the city wouldn’t swear by it too much but for the likes of myself, a country boy living in the sticks beside the sea on the east coast, it’s savage! One thing that I always ask mates when we are deciding to go out are«The deals». Student budgets are heavy on the mind when going out and gone are the days when a swig of a naggin would have you gone. Palace cater very well for students so it gets the rep of being a top hit for the student folk like myself. We spend most of the time out in smoking areas at nightclubs and to be honest, I don’t think I’ve come across a better smoking area than the one at Palace on a night out. Great crowds flock inside on Thursday’s. Fully recommend it.

i went in here i on a sunday to play pool with a group of friends. great craic. huge place with plenty of room to play pool, mingle with friends and even have a dance if you want. the staff are friendly and platy of bar space so you dont have to be elbowing people to get served.

10 to get in is a bit much for me, but 2 for coat check almost makes it balance out. The music was good until about 12:30 when they started playing gangster rap which just seemed odd. The staff just kind of push people out of the way for empty glasses, which would make sense if it was super crowded, but it was not. I’ll go back if someone is begging to, for some reason, but not any other.

I like the«new» palace. I liked the«old» palace too but the«new» version of it is nicely laid out, spacious and good fun. € 10 in and € 2 for your coat. Queues for the bar are very long and the bar staff don’t seem to have that knack that most bar staff have of being able to remember who is next and not, thus serving the pushy people, who got to the bar through force, ahead of you. The cocktail bar is very slow in serving, as cocktails take a long time to make, the high demand, and slow serving bar staff. Otherwise, the music is good, the atmosphere is good and, at the moment, the palace is attracting a diverse crowd as people check it out. Toilets are clean enough, still had toilet paper by the end of the night and, the floor wasn’t saturated. Contrary to another review I found the bouncers chatty and friendly. Each to their own.

I have to say I really like the ‘new’ Palace. It’s laid out nicely, and that deliberately long queue* outside actually moves quite quickly. It’s a pity then, that it’s still so full of knobs… *pure marketing genius

I have to say that I hate the new Palace makeover. To be fair, the Palace has never ranked very high in my books but I have had some good late-night sessions in there, upstairs, where the pool tables used to be. In those good-old-days, calling over to the Palace after closing time at Anseo across the street for a last drink or two was always a good bet for free seats, quick service and quiet chats over a game of pool. Times have changed. The pool-tables are now downstairs next to the crammed dance-floor, which looks more like a war-zone than anything else, where the drunken youth battle the bounchers while bombarded by Britney Spears and Bön Jovi. You might think, who in the right mind would ever go to the Palace for a quiet drink? Well, it used to be different. In all fairness, the young party-people, oozing energy in every corner seemed to be having lots of fun… and then some… but after an over-dose of powerballads my grumpy self decided I won’t be coming back.

This is the review to read if you want to know about the palace, some of other reviews here are out of date. Was in here last night and I really wish I hadn’t bothered! You DO have to pay in, its a tenner which is a rip off in my opinion. The pool hall upstairs is now gone and has reverted back to how the palace was back in its hey day but that hey day is well over, they still have the green lasers though! I have never seen so many skinny lollipop head girls who are completely orange and clearly do not own a brush because their hair is ridiculously messy! who guided these people in fashion? everyone seems to think they are better than everyone else and the elbow you out of their way, no manners at all and the boys are worse!(maybe i’m just getting old or something!) There is a new VIP type balcony which is small area that looks out over the nightclub(nothing special at all!). A bouncer stands at the end of the stairs with his arms crossed looking intimidating, this area just plays to those who love themselves(as far as I can see) and encourages their feeling of superiority which is not good for those that they plow through rudely to get to the bar when they descend from their special area. If you want to pay by laser card in this pub you cant just use it at the bar like every other normal place in town you have to go to a special counter and get cash back and after queuing there you need to try and get through the throngs at the bar to get your drink with your money, thats two waits for one drink! The final thing that I hated about this place was the bouncers, I have never seen such agressive people! now I don’t admire their job at all but shouting and snarling at paying customers is just not on! I even saw one bouncer hit one guy. I was shocked! Even girls who walked by thanking the bouncer at the end of the night(i dont know what they were thanking them for!) got a curl of the upper lip and an order to get out of the nightclub. Unbelievable! I have very fond memories of the palace of 8 years ago, I went there every Thursday and Saturday night without fail and loved every second I spent there but I will never go back there again, it has turned into a pretentious, unfriendly and dangerous(bouncers) place. I’m not one for writing bad reviews of business because I believe I can see something good in every place but if I could give this place NO stars I would.

The Palace seemed to have been under refurbishments for the best part of yonks, but it seems it’s doors have finally opened again, and last night I got to experience it. Now I’ll be honest, I hated the Palace. HATEDIT. But I was pleasantly surprised to find it was actually… ok. It still has many of the fundamental problems the old Palace had. Crap music, overpriced, easy to get lost in etc. But now in the coolest looking club I’ve ever been in. It looks like it belongs in the Bladerunner universe or something. It still retains the features of an old ballroom but with loads of lasers shooting around the place and big Space Invader-esque screens adorning the walls. It’s pretty damn cool. It looks like it would be the perfect stage for a remake of Strictly Ballroom… set in 2139. An epileptic’s worst nightmare though.

I’m never really sure what to make of the crowd at the Palace. It seems to have its share of every demographic: Oompa Loomps from all backgrounds, ruggers, rough and ready likely lads, students, a few indie kids even, and the rest. Bit of a mixed bag ain’t so bad — variety is the spice of life after all. It’s not all that slick inside. If memory serves right, the lighting inside is akin to manic, roaring red traffic lights. As mentioned, it’s packed to the rafters at the weekend and you should say your good-byes when you head to the bar because you won’t be seeing your friends for a long long time. The Palace is fairly unexceptional and doesn’t boast much of an atmosphere. Still, there are far worse places in Dublin.

Walk through Trinity around 11pm on a Friday night and the inevitable question on everyone’s lips is…‘Pav-Palace?’ This is usually answered in one of two ways…‘Obviously’ or ‘Hell no’. I’m a hell no-er unfortunately. Personally, the 15 minute walk, followed by the 40 minute wait(by which time you’ve both sobered up and seen everyone you could ever possibly have not wanted to see), and then the cattle-market-esque vibe of the interior is not really up my alley. Some swear by it, and claim it the greatest combo since peanut butter and jelly… but apparently it’s just as divisive. It gets so busy that you can’t move, and don’t even bother going to the bar because you just won’t get served. Not my cuppa tea… though if you wanna party like a winner(as the Trinners do!), then you may disagree!

When the Palace first opened everybody went and tried to get in and would talk about if the bouncers let them in the following Monday in school. The it became really uncool to go to the Palace for some reason, so people would pretend not to go but secretly went. Now it seems to be getting cool again to go, good job too because you bump into everybody here! I have always loved this place for a cheesy dance and good vibe with out having to go all the way into town, and it isn’t too bad trying to get a taxi home from here as there are a few cab companies around the area!

The Palace is one of the only nightclubs in town that is free in. As a consequence, it gets very crowded, particularly on a Friday, which is when all the Trinity students go there. This results in massive queues along Camden St every Friday night, resulting in the bouncers telling everyone to leave, that they are not letting anyone else in. And no-one ever leaves, as they know that in a few minutes the bouncers will let everyone in again, as this strange charade takes place every Friday evening. On Saturdays, the club is less packed, but still good and full and still free in, so why not head along then instead. The Palace has a really big dance floor, but it unfailingly jammers every night, so be prepared for the odd inadvertent elbow. There are fairly fee seats in the bar at the front, so be prepared to stand for the evening. In its former incarnation, The Palace was a cinema, so it has this great porch out the front, very pleasing to the eye(but even though you’re pretty much technically outside, they don’t let you smoke there, so be warned). The bar in the front of The Palace used to be open during the week up until recently, but was pretty shit and it is no great loss that it only opens at the weekends now. The pool tables upstairs are still open on week-nights. The Palace is pretty alright, and if do turn up and it’s useless, you haven’t paid in so it’s no great loss, you can always head over to Whelan’s or The Village. No worries.
