I’ve always enjoyed my pints in Walshs, but I have to deduct one star because I thought the barman was unnecessarily short with a friend of mine on one occasion. It was just the one occasion, so maybe don’t read too much into it. But my friend is a lovely fella(who wouldn’t say boo to a fly), it was our first pint of the night, and all my friend did was be unsure of what he wanted to order. For this he got a real attitude off the barman, followed up with a smart comment before we had completed the purchase. I appreciate that people can get stressed, however the bar was very quiet when we ordered. And it just took the edge off our evening. In fact, my friend has since always declined to return to Walshs with me, and I have found that to be something of an inconvenience(as it rules out the best pint of Guinness in Stoneybatter). So for that reason I have to deduct a second star. All because one barman was a bit impatient and too smart.

Pints after yoga — so wrong but sooo good. No one batted an eyelid when we trotted in with our yoga getups and mats — good start! We managed to nab the little snug in the corner which has a dedicated cubby hole for ordering rounds — sure you don’t even need to get off your seat! The pints of Sierra Nevada went down well and very reasonably priced at € 5 a pop. My go-to place for pints in the ‘Batter and next door in L. Mulligans for some posh pub grub. But of course you need to head to yoga to burn those calories, then back to Walsh’s for pints… #viciouscycle

An absolutely great local with nice Guinness, great choice of spirits and some incredibly nice bartenders. One of the few places where even on a busy Friday or Saturday night you can still find a good place to sit down with a friend and enjoy the pub but still be able to hear your friend. I couldn’t recommend it more highly so please save me a stool when you go…

Always good to have a local like Walsh’s right on your doorstep. Well, good, but dangerous. Very dangerous. It’s cosy, maybe too cosy, with lots of little nooks and snugs to fit inside — herein lies the danger. It’s not easy to find your way out! And the Guinness. It’s excellent. If you’re a connoisseur, I dare you to try it and defy me! Add to all this friendly staff, good prices, and little events like table quizes and live music nights, it’s a winner all round.

My favourite bar in Stoneybatter as they have the best wine selection. Staff are friendly too!

Exactly what you want from a local. Simple pub, no gimmicks. Friendly staff, expected drinks, nice atmosphere. Price point is nice for the area.

As a local, this pub is fantastic. I love the private nook and the real photo of a bus driving through the front of the building back in the day.

This boozer is deadly! Stoneybatter can be a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to pubs.(I grew up in the ‘Batter, I know my shizzle) There’s a nice mix of old ‘Batter and new ‘Batter. ‘Batter Mix if you will… I took my Yankee friends here after a stop off in Mulligans a few doors up. They wanted to see real Dublin. I steered clear of Temple Bar and got a taxi to Stoneybatter. Trendy blow ins and old skool regulars. All friendly and welcoming. Nice pints, friendly staff. Smells and looks like a pub should! There’s a bar for the oul fella’s on the Guinness and a lounge for the rest of us. I loved it(as always) and the Yanks loved it.

Ah Walshes… I see that this bar is erroneously titled ‘Walsh’s’ when there is actually an ‘e’ at the end. ‘Walshes’. I see in past reviews that there is also an assumption that the young people in the area that frequent this bar have ‘bought houses’ etc, but this is not all true. There is a big artistic population in the area who are renting and are contributing to new culture in the area such as the events and exhibitions in the nearby Joinery gallery. Not everyone new is upwardly mobile at least no-one I know !!! Walshes is where one goes to enjoy a quiet drink, and hopefully secure the wonderful snug. The bar staff are courteous and make a great hot port. It reminds me of a country bar which makes me feel a little at home in the metropolis. They are also always open and welcome to the aftermath of a Joinery event spilling over for after– drinks into their cosy establishment…

Walshes is a real local pub in the midst of lovely Stoneybatter. Stoneybatter is one of those neighbourhoods in Dublin that is old and quaint but has lots of young folk living in it ’cause they all bought houses here during the Celtic Tiger. I don’t live in the area myself but I will often go there with friends, which just goes to show what a great spot it is. It’s a local bar that attracts non-locals as well! There are two sides to the room and both are equally as cosy as eachother. The staff are brilliant too — very efficient and welcoming and always up for having a chat about anything under the sun. Fab Guinness too.

Ah Walshes, great spot for a drink. Why? Answer: Nice cosy pub with no music and the telly isn’t put on at night. The bar staff are friendly and will remember your order after your first order. Basically no pretence and a friendly atmosphere. Very popular with the upwardly mobile classes that are now taking over Stoneybatter.
