Amazing place. Love the quaint old fashioned décor and the cool vintage feel to the place. The staff are super nice and the cakes are delicious. The tea here is much better than the coffee. There is so much choice, the tea menu is really good. Afternoon tea here is really nice, the traditional breakfast good too but the savoury rosemary scone with poached egg is great. If you come here do not pass up a slice of their courgette and lime cake. It is scrumptious.

Awesome scones and tea. Yes, it is a little girly for my sensibilities, but still great. It is a tad snug with the tables so close together.

Located beside the Spanish Arch in Galway City, Cupan Tae is every tea lover’s dream! With the old curtains, small tables and vintage-​style cups, you feel like you’re drinking tea in somebody’s sitting room… and I’m more than cool with that.
They have an excellent selection of tea, both teabags and loose-​leaf (which you can also buy to bring home with you) and the cake selection has something to suit every taste.
It’s always busy here so if you want to get a table it’s best to avoid the known ‘rush-​hours’, and if you manage to find yourself here during one of the rare quiet periods… it’s sheer bliss! The staff here are lovely and will be more than happy to chat away and offer some recommendations, if they are not rushed off their feet that is!
This place really is a little gem in the heart of Galway and is a must-​visit for me whenever I’m down there. Everything about the experience is just perfect and, let’s be honest, you can’t beat a good cup of tea!

The wife and I had a wonderful experience here this afternoon as we wandered the Latin Quarter. Just stepped in for a plain cuppa and was surprised at all the delicious options!
My wife had the Cream Tea and I, the Emerald Isle — both were like drinking a cookie. Everything was well-​appointed with a steeping timer and a little metal stopper in the teapot to keep the leaves from spilling out towards the dregs. I got a slice of coffee-​walnut cake and my wife had some lemon loaf. Both were moist and delicious! I think we might return for the whole afternoon tea experience. We also bought a package of loose-​leaf to take home as a gift… what a nice souvenir it will be (if I don’t keep it for myself).
The thing here is that it’s not just a delicious treat, it’s also an experience. Pleasant service, lovely atmosphere (the frilly pink floweriness of everything was a little much from a guy’s perspective, but whatever), lots of great tea and food options and a gift shop… very happy with it. You should certainly go yourself!

This café is so cute with a very traditional ‘English Afternoon Tea’ feel to it. The décor was absolutely beautiful with silky tablecloths, English tea sets and a nice shop at the back selling a variety of whole leaf teas and homemade jam. However, it is very cramped and usually full on Saturday at lunch time, so we had to wait about 10 mins to be seated, but the staff were very friendly and the service was great. They checked on us often as well, which was nice as not many places do that these days.
The food was very good and they had a few interesting things on the menu, it was the first time I’ve seen Earl Grey dressing! There was also an extensive tea menu with everything from Earl Grey to wine red Hibiscus tea. They have coffee as well, and a nice selection of cakes and scones. The Afternoon tea set served on a China cake stand looked amazing, coming with a sandwiches, scones and cupcakes!
Prices were pretty reasonable, everything around 10 euro. My reason for not giving 5 stars was that it was really cramped, and the music wasn’t very nice and it was playing too loud. But overall, a great place for lunch or a tea break! The location is also very central making it easy access.

Great place for cake near Spanish Arch.
It felt to me like I was in someone’s Nanna’s front room. It’s cosy.
The tables are kinda close together but that doesn’t distract from it. It adds to the cosy feel.
Brilliant selection of teas and cakes. I chose red velvet and it was moist and delicious.

Cramped tables but the overall experience is good. Lovely selection of teas and cakes. The lime courgette cake a particular hit. Tea and cake for 2 = 16euro so it is expensive but worth it for the overall experience.

Los finger sandwiches, scones con nata y mermelada fresca, rematados por los bocaditos de tarta o galletas… Me pierden. Y las teteras con mezclas impresionantes. Qué más se puede pedir.
Y Cupan Tae es el epítome de todo lo que me gusta, tacitas y teteras estampadas, una bandeja en niveles llena de sándwiches deliciosos y los scones más maravillosos que he probado en mucho tiempo. Las tartas tenían mejor pinta en su formato normal que en el formato de bocadito, aunque no estaban mal.
Las camareras son encantadoras y super eficientes y llevan unos delantales estampados graciosisimos.
Las mesas están muy juntas pero es una distribución agradable, y no molesta.
Si os gusta tomar el té, ¡no me perdería este sitio!

Ah, such a cute shabby chic little tea room! Waitresses floating about with lovely ruffled aprons; tiny tables set with dainty china tea cups; vintage tea infusers, beautifully painted tea pots, and a soundtrack of 1940s — 1930s music. The paper napkins were so beautifully printed that I brought one home as a souvenir. What more could you want in a tea room?
On to the food and tea though. We had a little tiered tea service chock full of rich egg salad sandwiched between fluffy toothsome white bread, on the bottom tier. The top tier had tiny tea cakes: zucchini cake, carrot cake, a chocolate cake, and a lemon cake. The middle tier had the best scones I have ever had the pleasure of eating, and I am somewhat of a scone connoisseur. They were firm on the outside but yielded a moist crumbly inside. Absolutely perfect with the sweet cream, and fresh tasting raspberry preserves. It is my new life mission to somehow recreate these scones in my kitchen.
We ordered a pot of Galway Cream Tea which was so smooth and just sweet enough. I bought a bag of it for myself and one for a gift for my boyfriends mother.

This is an exceptional experience not to be missed. We had the afternoon tea service that came with sandwiches, the best scones ever (with raspberry jam and cream), with small tea cakes. The tea was wonderful as well :)
The atmosphere completely makes the experience and the waitresses were lovely.

Cupán Tae is easily the most quant, dainty and delicious teashop I’ve visited in Ireland. The teas and coffees are lovely, as are the sandwiches and freshly baked scones with cream and homemade raspberry jam. My favorite sandwich is the rosemary scone one, with fillings that seem to change slightly each time I order it. The Galway Cream Tea is especially nice and I’ve always enjoyed their mochas, too. High tea comes served on a three-​tiered platter with your choice of tea sandwiches, scone, and small bites of dessert. The food and drinks, coupled with the cute interior that’s decorated with all the lacy and crocheted things you can imagine, makes for the perfect Irish afternoon tea experience.

I’m sorry, you must relinquish your man-​card at the door. You haven’t a hope of holding on to it when you walk in. There’s doilies, tea sets and net curtains. The twee-​meter breaks the moment you walk in!
To reclaim your man-​card, please do the following:
1. Grow a beard (If you already have a beard proceed to step 2)
2. Drink whiskey
3. Clean the dirt off a shirt by yelling at it
4. Punch a unicorn
Do all 4 things within 5 minutes of exiting the building and you’ll get your man-​card back…
Seriously folks, this place is great. They’ve got this tea called «Green Christmas Tea» which can only be described as liquid happy.

Cupan Tae caught my fiancée’s eye the previous day on our trip to Galway. We decided in the morning that it would make a great breakfast place. Having missed the breakfast window at our hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to find the breakfast menu still going at 11:30. For teas, I had the Elixir of Life and she had the Blood Orange which had hibicus mint. While they were steeping, our salmon plates arrived. It is rare when she compliments scrambled eggs, but they got a very favorable mention. The poached egg on my plate was quite good, too. Our smoked salmon was accompanied by steamed spinach which mixed well together. Apart from the food, teas, and jams available, Cupan Tae is an atmosphere win. The staff is dedicated and friendly which seems to be an extension of the owner’s passion for running her business. The owner stopped by to every table briefly and answered questions for those who had them. It’s a cozy place but comfortable and contains a store for taking teas, jams, and tins home. We purchased a few souvenirs to remember our visit.
For Austinites, this is a Gaelic Steeping Room ornately decorated with high quality fare. It seems like something you’d find in Irish Salado or Fredericksburg.

Cupan Tae will be one of the things I miss about Ireland. Everything about this place is amazing. The atmosphere is quaint but it also has an edge of sophistication. The teas are amazing and they have a large selection. The food is great. I recommend the rosito. The service should be noted as it was good.

A darling little tea shop. The little girl inside just squeals with joy. The tea sets are adorable and flowery and the whole restaurant is floral and lovely.
We had a breakfast there and it was wonderful. Slightly pricey, however the atmosphere and friendly service makes up for it.

If you are looking for your traditional classic tea place, this is it. Walking in is like walking into Alice in Wonderland and the mad Hatter’s tea party. The decorations is just out of this world. It’s all flowery! They have a very nice selection of teas that thy also sell. There is food for breakfast and lunch and of course also pastries. I did not try the pastry, but I had the Galway cream tea and the scone sandwich with soup of the day. The soup was delicious and the sandwich was good, but I would try something else next time. The tea was very yummy, but kind of a classic black tea. I would come in here any day just to get away from the cold and snack on some pastry and tea. I don’t know if they’ll have this for long or it’s a temporary special, but they had a pot of tea and scones (or maybe sandwich) for two at 12 €.

I popped into this place while looking for a cup of tea. It’s friendly, cosy and quaint.
It has a great selection of tea and overall a very nice experience!

This little tea shop/​bakery is just perfect for when all you want is a nice pot of tea and a place to sit and chat with a friend. They are styled after a traditional Irish tearoom and I must say they suceed in that regard. The friendly staff and homely atmosphere make you feel welcome from the moment you step in the door, and the array of freshly baked cakes on the counter make an added lovely addition.
They have thirty different kinds of tea (and also do some nice coffee) so no matter what your taste I’m sure you’ll find something to your liking. All food is locally sourced and they bake all their own «goodies». All of their sandwiches are served with ‘potatoe bites’, which I must say are a lovely and welcome change from chips or crisps.
Not really suitable for large groups as there is limited space but it’s the ideal spot for a catch up with a few friends or to just hop in out of the rain for something warm.
Located just off the Spanish Arch it’s centrally placed so is an ideally spot to break a day of shopping or to meet someone.
