An amazing bridge now spans the river Shannon, joining both sides of the campus of the University of Limerick. It was designed to invoke the idea of a salmon-fishtail flicking above the surface of the water. To be honest, it looks more like a snake’s skeleton. But a very cool snake’s skeleton with lots of fancy lights. These look amazing at night, reflecting off the concrete of the bridge and the running river below. Its modern concrete & chrome design fits in nicely with the rest of the campus, while its airy construction tries not to overpower the surrounding countryside. Locals love it — they call it the«Living Bridge» as it bounces when you walk on it. Definitely one of the top sights to see in Limerick.
