This is a nice quiet pub. No loud noise, but a great place for a quiet drink. On the odd occasion there is a bit of Folk /Traditional and I guess western stile music. Staff are very friendly and good food during luchtime. Overall its thumbs up for me.

What a weird name! It’s the name of a book about American slavery, now what has that got to do with a pub in Dundrum? Sorry, I don’t have a Dundrum fact with an answer, I have just always wondered! Anyway, this is an old man pub, not one that i go into very often. I will say though that it has a nice little beer garden on the side of the building which is useful on a sunny day!

I worked near here for a while and this was our local. I must say I was very fond of it. It’s a very old sort of pub and slightly shabby, but the staff are lovely and always take care of you. The high point for me is the beer garden, which has really good heating. In fact you get too hot sometimes, but that’s a good complaint in Ireland. They do food as well, although I was never too impressed with the lunch offering. I found it to be a little pricey too for what it is. But all is all, a comfy, welcoming kind of pub.

This pub shouldn’t be nice, it is small and slightly grotty and smells like the bar cloth could do with a good rinse… actually no, the bar cloth could do with a good atomic explosion… but you know what? A good pub is a good pub, its about getting the right atmosphere and comfort level and bloody hell where did that night go?! All in all, not at all bad.

This pub’s exterior is actually designed more like a huge house than a cabin, contrary to it’s name. It’s actually very spacious and charming inside. There are great little nooks and corners that allows for intimacy amongst guests, as well as long tables that can accomodate larger groups. Also, this pub has an excellent beer garden, complete with heaters and a small fountain. The carvery lunch is from 12−3pm, is very popular here, and at times it can be difficult getting a seat for lunch. There is also a large parking lot adjacent to the pub, which allows for plenty of parking, and it’s free. The pub is very accessible by bus(the 17 and the 44 stop directly in front of the pub) and by the luas(Dundrum stop), which is about a five minute walk away and can be seen from the bridge of the luas. However, this pub does have a reputation for being a bit of an «old man’s pub,» which is a shame, since it is actually quite a friendly and delightful place. I don’t mind it being known as such, since I consider it a pleasant little secret where I can get away from the usual hectic bar scene in Dublin. Please make note: The map shown here is not accurate. Uncle Tom’s Cabin is located directly on Dundrum Road right next to the Topaz Petrol Station which is also easily visible from the Dundrum stop on the luas.
