I attended Vanity Rooms last week for the first and last time. I was very disappointed and unsatisfied with the service, or lack thereof. I rang the salon earlier in the day enquiring about a Facial. I was reliably informed by the owner that the treatment would last 1 hour as previous facials elsewhere lasted over an hour for less money. On entering the salon, staff were very young and I could quickly tell this wasn’t going to be a relaxing experience. The service was rushed and the beautician seemed very young and indifferent. It was clear the effort and attention to detail that goes with a small staff salon just wasn’t here. I was squeezed into one of their last appointments of the day at 7.45 pm and they didn’t even bother to steam my face. When I politely enquired about extractions(which are generally included at that price point) I was fobbed off and given some long-winded excuse that I didn’t need any despite my skin being extremely congested and the reason for me being there in the first place. Literally, for what the beautician did at a price point of 65.00 euro I could have done myself at home. While being dumped in the room on my own for 15 minutes, time which should have included a long neck massage, I was beginning to twig to the poor service. I checked my time to see how long a service I had received. Seconds later, same beautician flew in and wiped mask off my mask indicating end of one hour facial despite it only being 8.25 pm. I had begun facial at 7.45-only 40 minutes of treatment. She then proceeded to hard tell me a product at the till which I obviously declined. At this stage I was deeply dissatisfied with the service and politely confronted her on the rushed 40 minute facial which I was informed would last one hour. To be honest, their reaction to a customer feedback reaffirmed my opinion of this business. The owner/manager literally jumped to the employees defence despite not being asked and was extremely rude and defensive. At one stage I politely reminded her to ‘watch your tone’, almost as though I was speaking to a school child. She then finally, got the point, and we worked out a slight reduction. Instead of walking out of this salon relaxed after a highly stressful week, I walked out literally shaking from the experience. I have never encountered anything like it in my entire life.

Image magazine knows their stuff. This place is great. Friendly staff and great service. And most importantly they run a clean shop, they’re trained by waxperts which certainly sets a high standard!

Run by two lovely girls(both named jen funnily enough) the experience in Vanity Rooms is luxurious, girly and fun. It’s located right in Stepaside Village and is really easy to find, with free parking available in The Step Inn car park. The salon specialises in sculptured nails and with 5 manicure stations, 3 pedicure stations, it is perfect for a girly get together. I particularly love the Thai manicure which included a scrub, hand mask in heated mitts finished with a colour polish of your choice. Fab!
