Good food, good service, great dessert! Pretty posh. We tried the leek soup with popcorn crusted prawns(I’d give it a 3.5 outta 5), tagliatelle with ragú(5 out of 5, in my opinion, and the true spaghetti Bolognese as the rest of the world calls it), lasagna alla Bolognese with spinach noodles(definite 5⁄5!), the pasta made out of eggs, breadcrumbs, and cheese(my toddler looooooved that one. 4⁄5 imo), a kinda forgettable ravioli with potato and Gorgonzola(3⁄5), and the desserts were fanTAStic! Orange crème brûlée(5⁄5), mille feulle with mixed berries and marscapone(7⁄5!!! K, so max 5, but I couldn’t get enough of that. It was magical.), and the«iced cone» which was this incredible honey semifreddo shaped like a cone and rolled in almonds and honeycomb on a bed of melted hazelnut and chocolate nougat(like, whoa. 15⁄5. Jk, but seriously so awesome.) Worth a visit if just for the desserts!

One of the best restaurants in Bologna isn’t even in the heart of the city. Restaurant Garganelli is attached to the Hotel Regency Savoia. But this ain’t your average hotel restaurant. Truly an upscale location with amazing service, but none of the pomp you’d expect from such a luxury spot. We stumbled in after striking out at a couple other restaurants in town and, as we were staying in the hotel, just expected a standard hotel meal. Little did we know what we were in for. Turned out to have an amazing meal of everything from tortelloni, fish carpacio, Osso Bucco, squab and more. Truly amazing meal and the wine list was so affordable and delicious, we couldn’t believe. We loved it so much that, after being disappointed by some of the big boys in town, we actually came back for dinner here on our last night and were equally impressed. Highly recommended whether you’re staying in the hotel, or just looking for something a bit different. If you need any further proof, it seemed that there were a number of locals that came in for dinner each night. Can’t find better proof than that.

Quite posh restaurant attached to the Savoia Regency Hotel. Service was friendly and the lady Maitre D especially so. A small glass of Prosecco and some nibbly-things to start the meal was a nice touch too. We ordered a rather strange assortment of 4 starter dishes, which confused the waiting staff a bit, so we were left eating bread for rather too long. Once they realised their error, they sprung into action and served us the rest of the food in sequence(as we had asked). Good value too I think 4 small course plus a bottle of pleasant wine came to 52 euros! Oh! And the food was lovely — not spectacularly amazing, but beautifully served and very tasty.
