Il Veliero

This place is also known as «The Ship», and you’ll see why If you take a look around. Decorated from top to bottom; there’s always something catching your eye (I learned how to tie a dozen different knots from a diagram on the wall)! The atmosphere is very charming and fun. The staff are also polite, but a little aloof, and it takes a while to prepare your food. It’s understandable, however, because the place is always filled to capacity.
There’s seafood available on the menu, which I found to be quite good. I ordered Scialatielli al Timone, which is pasta with small octopus, small prawns, clams, and tomato sauce. Everything was presented nicely and cooked well. The only thing I would have wanted is larger portions.
It’s a good place for having a fun time with friends.

Après avoir patienté + d’1h, nous voilà enfin installés. La salle est bondée, on est vendredi soir et tout laisse penser que l’on a découvert «the place to be».
Les pizzas arrivent, elles sont généreuses, non en fait elles sont énormes.
La pâte est fine et bonne mais dommage le résultat escompté n’est pas au rdv.
En résumé, c’est correct mais pas fou non plus.

Positively surprised — large, delicious pizzas, amazing olive oil, great service and outstanding wine (try Piccoletto colli bolognesi, it’s fresh and tasteful). Definitely a place to come back to.

La nourriture allie quantité et qualité. Prix très corrects.
Essayez les pizzas, elles sont succulentes

Das «Veliero» habe ich öfters und immer wieder gerne aufgesucht. Besonders dann, wenn der Hunger wieder einmal groß war. Das Veliero ist ein Restaurant mit guter napoletanischer Pizza. Was besonders auffällt, ist dabei die Größe der Pizza. Laut einer vorsichtigen Schätzung können es 45 bis 50 cm Durchmesser sein. Hunger ade.
Die Betreiber des Lokals stammen aus Neapel, wie man unschwer am Akzent erkennt. Ich habe bis auf wenige Ausnahmen immer Pizza bestellt. Das restliche Menü, welches stark auf Fisch– und Meeresfrüchte ausgelegt ist, ist zwar auch OK, hebt sich aber nicht so sehr von anderen Restaurants derselben Preisklasse ab.
Veliero bedeuet Segelschiff und die Inneneinrichtung erinnert sehr stark daran. Beleuchtung und Sauberkeit könnten etwas besser sein, sind aber annehmbar. Das Personal ist freundlich. Die Preise sind, gemessen an der Größe der Pizza niedrig (die Pizza kostet gleich viel wie anderswo, ist aber bis zu doppelt so groß).
Ich kann zwar nicht sagen, hier die beste Pizza meines Lebens verzehrt zu haben, doch Qualität und besonders Dimension stimmen wirklich zufrieden. (Viele, die ich hierher eingeladen habe, schafften nur wenig mehr als die Hälfte!)
Wer mal in Bologna ist oder einen Zwischenstopp hier einlegen muß (das Veliero ist ca. 10 Minuten vom Bahnhof entfernt), ist gut beraten, herzukommen.
