One of my colleagues brought my along to this traditional restaurant only a few minutes walk away from my usual hotel in Milan. Now that I know that it is here I will probably never dine at the hotel again! The restaurant is the oldest in Italy and the second oldest in Europe having been at the same spot since 1284. Back then it was not even in Milan but rather a stop on the route between Cremona and Milan. The historic feel of the place is great and the inner room is the nicest with a huge fire place. Service was lovely and while English was somewhat limited it is still better than my Italian. Food was very good, started out with a selection of local hams and salamis. In a way standard for Italy but great quality. Followed that with the Milanese saffron risotto with bone marrow in it. Superb dish that can be strongly recommended. The meat was good but in a way also more what I am expecting. Desserts were however also superb, especially the Tiramisu was executed to near perfection. They also have a great wine list with wines from the surrounding region. My new favorite place!
