Service here is terrible, the waitress didn’t give us any suggestion even we asked. I ordered median cook for my beef steak, but it looks like well done… and the two glasses of red wine were the last of a bottle, so it tastes not good… also there was a fly around our dishes while we were eating… not really a good experience for my birthday dinner

Loved this place! My roommates and I were dying to try this place based on all the raves we heard! And with no surprise it lived up to it’s raves! Pear ravioli was to die for! Pumpkin ravioli was amazing! And their cheesecake was a perfect way to end! The service was great!

Lovely little place across the river from all the touristy areas. Home made pastas and a local vibe that makes it a must experience. Romantic and rustic– you won’t regret it. It’s the favorite restaurant of friends of ours and a place we’ll gladly return to.

Good food but nothing extraordinary. I would recommend the pear raviolis with asparagus & cream sauce. That was delicious ! The place is very nice and the service is good but overall it’s a bit pricy compared to other places and it doesn’t feel very local(many tourist). I had a lovely evening here and i’m definitely satisfied and would recommend this place, it’s just not a five stars for me.

Great ambiance, and the pear ravioli was some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to Florence.

This place was recommended by our hotel in their written handout. I do not recommend you eat there. The food was prepared with very little care and was mostly not very good. Our hotel host was surprised to hear that we didn’t like it, but the very next day told us that someone else had had the same negative experience. The only good thing I can say about the place is that it’s just across the corner from perhaps the best gelateria in Florence, and next to the gelateria across the street is a very good café with great coffee and nice pastries. So by all means go to the area. Just don’t eat at this restaurant.

This is a lovely restaurant to go to with friends or family if you’re looking for something a little nicer than you’re casual dinner. I was recommended this place by multiple friends and decided to give it a try. The pasta is not terribly impressive, but their chicken is delicious! Also, if you’re a student studying abroad and looking for restaurants with salted bread, you’ve found your place! Overall, this restaurant offers great atmosphere and friendly servers so you are guaranteed an enjoyable evening!

Definitely go here. Made a reservation for 9:30p.m. But showed up at 9:15 and they welcomed us with a complimentary glass of champagne. To start, ordered a salad with pears, goat geese, tomatoes and honey. Perfect balance. Wife ordered their special«Pear Ravioli» which was great. I had the penne with the bolognese which, unfortunately, was a little too salty for my tongue but overall still good. House wine? House wine!!! Finished off with some limoncello and a piece of cheesecake that was as fluffy as air and very tasty. We’re from the United States but Bajram(Byron) made it super easy for us to order. I’d recommend him to any one visiting. He lifted the dining experience x10! Enjoy!

We had a nice meal here. We showed up around 6:30pm and didn’t have a reservation. We were given a great seat inside. At first with the issue of not having an English menu and a not so great waiter at first, seriously we were about to walk out. Then a different waiter came to help us and explained the entire menu and was very nice. It turned our meal around and we had a very good time. The tortellini stuffed with pear was very good, and much different flavor than anything I have ever had in an Italian dish. My wife had the ravioli with pumpkin filling and slices of ham on top. Both were great. We had a salad prior to this with spinach, arugula, pine nuts, tomato, and avocado. Highly recommend. Basically if it were not for the one waiter that helped us we would have skipped this place.

Number 1 issue… NOENGLISHMENU! This place is quite popular, came here for lunch and because we didn’t have reservations, we had to wait a bit. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation for a table outdoors, it was a beautiful day outside and I was jealous of all the people who had a table outdoor! Ok! Back to the important stuff, FOOD!!! Because there was no English menu, we were in the mercy of the waiter recommendation, we ended up ordering… Seafood Soup Clam + Spaghetti Tortellini and Ragu Overall, the meal was DELICIOUS!!! I think it was the best clam spaghetti I had all trip! The seafood soup was ok… it’s flavorful, but the fish still had the bones in it and it was SOOOOANNOYING to pick it all out.

Trattoria 4 Leoni is a lovely, delicious place to spend an evening. They have a beautiful patio in a cute little piazza(Piazza della Passera), but you’ll likely have to make a reservation in advance to get a seat out there. It can be a little tricky to find… look for the piazza, not the street. The décor is understated and beautiful – high, wood-beamed ceilings, stone walls, brick arches, good lighting – a really nice backdrop for some great food. The service is, oddly, very American. Our server spoke great English, and our food came to the table in record time. Maybe because we’re American? I would have been okay with a bit of a slower pace, but I won’t complain because they food that did show up at the table in such a curiously short amount of time was distractingly delicious. Pasta were really tasty… I opted for the pear pasta(fiocchetti di pera), fresh ravioli filled with cheese and pear in a cream sauce with asparagus. Although I’m partial to the whole sweet-savory thing, I thought the flavors were well balanced – not too sweet, and the sauce was salty enough to make it work. The filet was super flavorful and cooked to perfection(rare). The spinach was delicious. The side of potatoes were acceptable, but nothing special. I’d recommend saving room for something else on the menu. They have some really inexpensive wine options… we ended up with a .5L carafe for € 7, and it was a great complement to our meal. For dessert, we shared the cheesecake with berry compote, since everyone on Unilocal seemed to be losing their minds over it. It was super light and not too sweet, which was nice. It didn’t blow me away, but it was a perfectly acceptable end to an enjoyable meal.

Amazing food and great location, but hard to get the waiter’s attention. Worth every penny! Or cent since I’m in Europe. This has been my favorite dinner thus far and it’s all thanks to the Unilocal community. The location of the establishment is in a cute, hidden plaza on a back road across from the Pitti Palace. The establishment has both outdoor and indoor seating and it is recommended to make a reservation for later times past 7:30pm. The restaurant is nothing special in terms of décor, but there is a decent amount of tables. Nine of us had a reservation for 6:30 and there was almost no one there when we arrived. Of course, this is because Italians wouldn’t be caught dead eating dinner before 7:30. We were seated 15 minutes before our reservation, yet it took 20 minutes for someone to come over to take any form of order, even water. When a waitress finally overheard me mention that hopefully someone comes over soon, one of the waiters promptly came over(no one in Italy rushes). He was fairly nice and spoke English well, apparently he was a waiter in Arizona for a few months. He was the joking kind and as soon as he came over he asked how many of us were getting the pear ravioli(6 of the 9 of us by the way); evidently it’s their most popular dish. The pear«ravioli» made my meal for 14 euros. Everyone was so right on how great it is. It’s sweet. It’s salty. It’s creamy and saucy. It was perfectly cooked. They gave us a generous amount yet I still wish there was more on my dish. I sopped up the rest of the cream with the bread they serve. They aren’t actually ravioli though. Their more like pasta purses and are called«Fiocchetti di pera in salsa di taleggio e asparegi». Taleggio is a kind of cheese and asparegi is asparagus. There is not a ton of asparagus. it’s sliced up too, and according to the menu, it’s frozen, but I thought it gave a nice difference in texture compared to the constant creamy, soft texture of the pasta, filling and sauce. Another friend ordered essentially shrimp scampi that came out with three giant prawns. It looked delicious and she enjoyed it immensely. Someone else ordered the spaghetti with clams which she also enjoyed. Wine nicely paired with dinner(no pun intended). Almost all of us ordered the cheesecake for 6 or 7 euros. How to describe this cheesecake. It is probably one of the best I have ever had. It was soft, creamy and very light yet had a distinct sweetness that created the perfect dessert to an amazing meal. You have the option of chocolate or fruit topping. I went with the fruit which consisted of mostly raspberries and blueberries. The chocolate was dark, not very sweet, and it made the dish more dense. Both had different aspects but if I was to go next time I would ask for no topping; I thought the fruit overpowered the delicate taste of the cheesecake. The crust was a perfect support to the rest of the dessert. It was not a graham cracker crust, but I believe it was made of biscotti. It was to die for. I could eat the crust alone. Needless to say I polished my plate. The service was okay. Our food came quickly, yet it was almost impossible to get the attention of the staff. They were friendly and helpful, when we were able to get their attention, which is the most important part. Although, at the end, since there were 9 of us, we tried dividing the check according to what people bought. We have become very efficient at this, yet the workers refused and said we had to divide the check evenly. We could still each pay with card which I found a little strange. It just created more chaos for us because some people bought dessert while others didn’t. People in my group were not happy, but we dealt with it. Just as a forewarning to others. Overall, I want to come back here just for these two items. In fact, we already have reservations for this Friday(our last Friday — sadness) and I intend to get the same exact things minus a topping from my cheesecake. For the quality of what we ordered, I thought the price was justified. Although there was a 2 or 3 euro cover charge for each person and the wine was a bit more expensive, it was still worth it.

We were so lucky to find this gem in an area of very good restaurants, just away from the tourist area of Florence. Our waiter, Giuseppe, took the time to explain the Italian menu items to us, each sounding better than the next! We decided on a couple salads(amazing), the zucchini appetizer and the calamari, anchovies & shrimp tempura(this was too good to believe). Paired with the house red wine, our lunch was delicious and very reasonable in price. I would highly recommend making a reservation if possible as they are constantly busy with the local crowd and tables can be sparse if you just walk up, especially in the evening. Thank you to the great staff and we apologize for breaking the glass water bottle when leaving. Giuseppe, Gracie!

We had our last dinner in Florence here. We trusted our concierge to make our reservations. He told us we had reservations, but when we got there the host told us our name wasn’t on their list. Since we were early and it was a weekday they let us in anyway, which relieved a lot of stress. We started with a plate of salami, cheese and raw fava beans. The salami was good, the cheese was very milky, different than most cheeses I’ve had, and serving the fava beans raw was something I haven’t seen before. The raw fava beans had a snap to them and refreshed the palate. I ordered the Orecchiette with broccoli, anchovies and a sprinkle of dried pepper on top. The Orecchiette were cute little bowler hat shaped pasta. The broccoli gave freshness to the dish and the pepper gave it a bite. I didn’t really taste the anchovy which made the dish a little plain and one noted after a few bites. So I tried my Uncles grilled flat chicken which was juicy and fatty with a great char. My Aunt’s spaghetti and clams was spicy with the essence of clams. My Dad’s potatoes and octopus was a delicious mouthy classic. My other Aunt’s cod in tomato sauce was melt in your mouth tender. Even though my dish got a little boring after a while, I had plenty of other delicious dishes to feast on. Dessert was the best out of the meal. I ordered the cheesecake with berries and a tiramisu. The tiramisu was soggy and not very impressive, but the cheesecake was the star. The cheese filling was as light as air and the berries were fresh and sweet. The best dessert I’ve had in Florence. So we had a pretty good ending to our stay in Florence.

I came here after reading the numerous positive reviews from others, but I’m sad to report that I walked away feeling unimpressed by both the food and the service. I didn’t have reservations, but was told my friend and I could be seated as long as we finish within an hour and a half. No problem, I thought. That’s more than enough time. Although we ordered everything at the same time, it seems they had forgotten about us after bringing our appetizer, because a whole half hour went by until we realized no more of our food was coming. I had to snag our busy waitress to get her to check on our order, which came out soon after doing so. I didn’t perceive this to be «foreigner discrimination» of any sort, but that our order genuinely fell into oblivion. They did make up for this by kindly revoking the time limit they’d placed on our table, which, at that point, was soon approaching. Aside from this, service felt rushed and largely unresponsive throughout the meal, and getting the attention of our waitress proved difficult. Anyhow, as far as food quality goes, I found the meal to be just OK. I ordered a Tuscan appetizer, which ended up coming with 2 types of cold cuts, chopped liver, and a crostini – the cuts were fine, but the liver was SUPER liver-y, and way too rich for me.(Though I’m not a fan of liver to begin with, so if you are, you may like it.) For our main dishes, we ordered Pici Pasta with Meat Sauce, and Grilled Chicken. The pasta itself was good, having a thicker texture than spaghetti, but the sauce was a little fatty for my taste. The chicken was thin, and overall rather unimpressive. For dessert, none of the traditional Italian dolci appealed to me, so I ended up going for the Portuguese-style flan. Unfortunately, it tasted bland, and texture was more rubbery than smooth. Overall, 4 Leoni was a disappointment for me. It looks like most other people have had a better experience, so maybe it’s just a matter of not ordering what I ordered =/

Food is good. Service is great. Fiocchetti di pera is for sure a main selling point. Peposo is really tender and seasoned well but I wish there were more to this dish. The waiter also suggested guinea fowl with pomegranate seeds which was pretty well cooked also. Their house red is just ok.

This is the best meal I have ever had in my entire life. We had the pear filled ravioli, some pasta with cheese flavored ice cream on top, steak and roasted potatoes. Nothing I say will do it justice. If you come to Florence this is an absolute must. Lovely service. Busy. Make a reservation.

This trattoria was where we ate our first dinner in Florence. I would love to say it was the best meal I had, but«unfortunately» Florence abounds in good restaurants, and I have a hard time picking which really was the best. Quattro Leoni however, ranks very high, in my opinion. We didn’t have a reservation, but we came early, so we secured a table. The menu was only in Italian, but since I thrive in ordering items that I don’t really understand, I still had fun. We began with a bottle of wine, which was superb. And I also ordered the Antipasti Toscana, featuring several types of cured meats, as well as the famous Tuscan liver pâté. My companion on the other hand started with the fresh pasta with ragu. That was heavenly. Heaven didn’t end there: it was followed by the roasted duck breast, which was perfectly done, and the osso buso(if you get the osso buco, be sure to scrape the marrow, it’s amazing). And we decided to get dessert as well, by sharing a mantonella and a tiramisu. Oh, if only there were no other good restaurants in town; we wanted to repeat this one, but the curiosity to try out other restaurants was also high so we didn’t. But if I get back to Florence, I definitely would.

I always try to eat far from the touristic frenzy, that’s why I found Trattoria 4 Leoni in a lovely passage. Cover charge is not included. First time I heard about that, they just add 2 € per person on the bill but it was explained on the menu. Service is good except that I was a little bit ill at ease because the waiter was standing just next to us and I don’t very like being constantly watched. The food was very tasty, the steak was tender and rare as I like it. The gnocchis alla ricotta were amazing, the mix between ricotta and lemon was great and their cheesecake was the best I’ve ever eaten after the Cheesecake Factory one. However it wasn’t heavy compared to other cheesecakes, I don’t think they made it with cream cheese. Trippa alla florentina and tiramisu were ok.
