When I arrived, the man at the front desk was rushing to get me through although there wasn’t anybody else in line or in the lobby. It was ridiculously unwelcoming and disrespectful. Later on that night I called five minutes after the kitchen closed for some food and they would not accommodate me with anything so I ended up having to grab crappy food from the mini bar. The next day I called to have an iron sent up and the lady told me they only have a laundry service for an additional price. These are simple amenities that should be in every hotel for $ 165 a night. The décor is all old and falling apart. The rooms are just average. It’s a great location and it looks good from the outside, but the inside is nothing special and the staff has not been friendly. Weird because this place has 4 stars on Unilocal and trip advisor. I guess people don’t know what a real 4 or 5 star hotel is. I would be cautious.

My wife found this hotel for our stay in Sorrento. The location came highly recommended from several travel sites. We were not disappointed with our stay. The check in process was flawless. The hotel property was beautiful with plenty blooming plants and awesome views of the water. If you enjoy a big breakfast, I recommend you stay on property and enjoy the hotels. It’s for 7am — 10am. The hotel room size is typical to many European hotels, smaller than those you might be use to in North America. The location is a 10 minute walk from the train station straight down the street. The city center and shops are another 10 minute walk out and to the right of the hotel. The marina is also close if you plan a day trip to Capri. We really enjoyed our stay at The Grand Hotel Royal.
