This Kaldi is among a chain of stores by the same name selling various import foods, wines/beers and coffees. Along with a pretty expansive offering of foods from around the world, they also have wines and beers that rival your local wine shop. Be sure to grab a free sampler cup of the featured coffee to sip as you browse the aisles. Black only is also available — feel free to ask. Here, you will find some of the same products seen at grocery stores. The advantage Kaldi offers is passing savings on to the customer for commodities like imported pasta, canned tomatoes and coffee. Personally, I really enjoy their expanded offerings of olive oils, vinegars and spices. As Kaldi is a chain store, you’ll find nearly the same selection of products at all their locations. The major differences are advantages of location, store layout, floor space availability and of course, store staff. Now, I’m not sure but every Kaldi I’ve shopped at has always had only women staffing the stores. Not sure if that’s a deliberate decision on the part of management, but the result is generally a more pleasant shopping experience. Variations do exist however, and I will say this store offers a good balance of knowledgeable«mature» staff and bright, «genki»(energetic) younger staff. Oh, almost forgot — their coffees are sold by the gram or pre-packaged. They’ll grind the beans on the spot to match your preferred brewing method, and a point card is offered. Discounts given, as mentioned in the tips. Consistency in flavors offered is good too. I’m fond of bolder flavors so Italian roast is my choice. It has the right balance of bitterness, flavor and price(one of the least expensive in the lineup) but good value. Finally, be on the lookout for time-bound and seasonal specials. Certain items are only offered on a limited availability. However, these are often priced to move quickly so when searching for something tasty, unique and a little bit different than your usual grocery store, you’ll often find it here.
