My Japanese friends also told me to try okonomiyake when I go to Kyoto so here I am — getting a real taste of the famous Japanese-style savory pancake! My colleague and I shared a mix beef/shrimp/squid pancake. We had the choice of mixing the ingredients and preparing the pancake by ourselves but decided to go with the experts in the restaurant for doing this. For the drinks, I got the yuzu(Japanese citrus) sour and my colleague got a beer with tomato juice — this is a very strange concept but the beer and tomato actually go really well together. The beer was tasty with an aromatic tomato flavor. It was something I would have never thought of. When the server placed our pancake on the teppan grill, it looked so beautiful with bonito flakes and a decorative patterned sauce mixture smother over it. Pretty soon the pancake was sizzling and burning up so we had to turn off the hotplate. I found the mixture of ingredients to be really tasty, albeit a bit heavy-handed with the sauce. All in all, it was a good experience.

I’m so happy I found this place. It’s authentic, delicious dinner, and not expensive… so much better than the tourist-filled places in/around the station.

Great food with your own«plancha» on which they deliver all sorts of noodles and other stuff we didn’t try. The Tomato yakisoba was great and also the vegetrian mix. The avocado pizza is consisted mainly of melted cheese so beware… friendly staff + english menu. Really nice experience
