Loved this hidden gem! What a great find. You rude an elevator up to the 4th floor, it opens right into the restaurant. A very small, but upscale/artsy/hipstery industrial place. We sat on mattresses that align the windows. They offer blankets to cover your legs and feet(must take off shoes when dining on the cushions). The menu was great, many things to chose from. The desert menu was also very abundant.

At around two o’clock in the weekday afternoon, I stopped this place for a little late lunch. I just checked Unilocal for a quick review about this restaurant before I got into elevator of a business building, located just a minute from Naka-Meguro station, because I noticed a sign on the street said it opened till 16:00 for lunch and looked good. There’s no sign or door on 6th floor when the elevator’s door opened, just an open floor space with bright sun light came through both side of the wall. The peak lunch time was being finished still about 5 tables and the higher couch spaces were full. .. then I realized all seats were occupied by women. The only man here was a server. I felt little awkward but soon my table was ready. From lunch menu, I chose three small dishes(choice from 11kinds) that served with five-grain rice and pork miso soup(both are served free refill). All looked good and portion were quite enough for me. Taste were mild and some creative combination, pretty good, actually. I asked both rice and soup for second cups, served with nice smile. Guests on the higher couch were eating or supping drinks with floor-high tables looked interesting and probably good chance for foreign guests to have Japanese traditional style of dining. Here’s I think good for a den for ladies’ chatting. However, when I was enjoying with coffee, three business men came in(for meeting) but they absolutely looked strange in the atmosphere, even though there’s another man on the higher couch with a woman. In addition, there’s a free wifi signal.

Great parfait! I had the green tea and coconut ice cream parfait. It also came with three mochi balls, some azuki(red bean paste), whipped cream and at the bottom were some tasty little broken up wafers. It was delicious. It was well worth the price tag of 750 or 800 yen. My partner and I also ordered a pot of spearmint tea, to share. Last time, we had rose and hibiscus, which was great and we were able to refill the pot with hot water for free and it was strong and full of flavor. This time however, the tea was weak and was obviously made from a teabag. Which, at 600 yen a pot, was disappointing. I will not be wasting my money on the spearmint tea again. Lucky, the parfait was so amazing that we still had a lovely time. The café is very cool and relaxed. You can choose to sit at regular tables or in these other areas that are basically mattresses with blankets. Chanoma is located in a building very close to the station. They have some nice big windows that look out on Naka Meguro and the famous Meguro river. They also serve nice lunch sets and tasty snacks and some tempting cocktails.
