So let’s say you’re visiting Japan for vacation, and you’re here with a bucketlist of things to eat in Japan: sushi, yakitori, maybe some tempura, and ofcourse, RAMEN! But here’s the thing, if you walk around for more than 20 min in Tokyo, there’s a huge selection of Ramen shops where ever you go, and you might not know which Ramen place is the best place. Ramen shops are the equivalent of pizza joints in NYC; there’s a surplus of them, and you don’t want to waste your time going to an average place. Places that you don’t want to spend your time is the franchises like Korakuen or Hidakaya. I would say that«Ore-ryu Shio Ramen» is a great place to start off your discovery of Great Ramen Shops in Tokyo. Ore-ryu Shio Ramen(translated to My Kind of Salt Ramen) is the second best Ramen that I’ve had in my 5 years of Tokyo. It’s also apparently been picked up on TV to be a favorite place for some Japanese celebrities. I had the 熟成塩ラーメン(jukusei shio ramen) which is apparently their specialty salt-flavored Ramen with an extra order of Gyoza dumplings. Both were great; the shio-ramen felt like what Salt Ramen was supposed to taste like and the Chashyu meat was super tender. My wife had the yuzu ramen which had a more refreshing flavor to it. If you’re feeling adventurous, try out their wide variety of Ramen dishes posted on the outdoor seating area. There’s stuff like Chige-miso cheese ramen. Haven’t tried it, but the picture looked great.
