Famous quiz shows in which viewers can take part are generally broadcasted in Tokyo. However the long-​standing popular quiz show «A» is broadcasted in Osaka. I went to the preliminary rally once. I heard it was difficult even to get the preliminary rally ticket. A lot of quiz-​fans would like to participate in this show. I wrote the reason for my application in detail and informed the staff members of the program of my aspiration.
After I got the preliminary rally ticket, I checked the features of the preliminary rally by internet. I got much information and studied a wide variety of unorganized information. On the day of the preliminary rally I was required to write the reason for my application again so I prepared it in long lines.
Over 100 applicants flocked to the hall (Asahi broadcasting company) and took an exam. It was so difficult that I couldn’t answer the questions well. But I wrote the reason for my application ardently and humorously.
To tell the truth, my mother was a fan of the late actor K (an MC of the quiz show) and went to see the show as an audience. He was very dandy. And my mother said to me, «I wish he were my husband.» She talked about him with throbbing as if she were a teen-​age girl.
I wanted to encounter Mr. K who was able to flutter my mother.
But I was sorry that I failed in the exam. Only eight or nine applicants passed the exam. A person next to me passed the exam. I should have peeped at her answer. But in vain now.
I got back home reluctantly. The night before the preliminary rally day I dreamed that I passed the exam and took part in the quiz show. And I won the championship and I tried to challenge «A chance!» Just therefore I came out of a dream. Was that a mere dream? It was an awfully real dream. The qualifier does not seem to be received for five years if I receive it once. Though Mr. K passed away, I want to challenge it again.
