Fresh, inexpensive sushi that was literally steps away from our airbnb. Would have given it 5 stars if not for the brusque/crappy service. It’s not like they were slammed, we went at 5pm when there was 6 customers in total(one of whom was this loud, drunk but rather entertaining salaryman). They don’t speak English, there’s no English menu but don’t depair — there are pictures! I got a sushi set(8 pieces of assorted sushi, a 6-piece tuna-cucumber roll and a miso soup) for 1,600 Yen. My partner got a sashimi moriawase(14 pieces of fish/shrimp and soup) for 2,000 Yen. Really loved the food. Great value for money. Pity about the service. The place started to get really packed after 6pm.

This is one of the BESTSUSHIRESTAURANTSEVER! These guys are the reason why I totally HATE Genki sushi in Hawai’i. There is NOTHING Genki about the Sushi at Genki sushi lol! Mikore Sushi has the freshest fish and the sushi chefs are welcoming and entertaining as they work on making the sushi to order! The rice is very tasty by itself and it is not super sticky like some sushi places. Japan Sushi places automatically put Wasabi on their sushi, but I don’t like wasabi. I love the fact that they remember that when I come in to eat here. Not only are the fish and rice good and tasty, but their shrimp, egg, and soups are tasty and wonderful too! They are always busy but they also do delivery. The price is good and you really get the best that you pay for. I absolutely love this restaurant and highly recommend eating here!

Being a first time traveler to Japan we asked our concierge where a good sushi place was near the shinjuku Hilton. He promptly guided us to this local place. We didn’t make any reservations(and probably couldn’t have since my husband and I both do not speak Japanese) but they still sat us at the sushi counter. Oh I forgot we are also traveling with our 1 year old active toddler. The sushi was delicious and the service was very prompt. We were also surprised at how decent the prices were. We didn’t know what most of the things on the wall said(I’m sure many delicious things) but it seemed like the locals loved this place. It was packed before we left. A few tips for you foreigners. 1. You have to write down what you want to order on the small piece of paper with the red pen provided. Then the waitress will come and get the order from you to give to the sushi chef. 2. You have to write it in Japanese. We didn’t know so the waitress had to write it down for us. So be prepared. 3. Try to call ahead and make a reservation. It’s a pretty small place and gets packed quickly. We had to eat and dash because it was nearing our son’s meltdown time but if we were here by ourselves we would’ve taken our time to ask about the specials and enjoyed every delicious bite.
