Y!mobile Shibuya Higashiguchi is a place you should consider.
Y! = Yahoo! Japan = Softbank
So you might wonder why Yahoo! in Japan is operating a cell phone network, but it is simply a sub-​brand of Softbank. They share the exactly same network. There really isn’t much of a difference, so think of Y! mobile as Softbank. So why would they create such sub-​brand? The idea is for Softbank to sell mainly iPhone products, while Y! mobile would focus on non-​Apple products; mainly android. However, for pre-​paid SIMs, no worries. They do carry SIM cards for iPhone.
Pre-​paid SIM price:
3800 Yen for 15 Days; 3GB LTE usage (LTE is 4G). The catch is, there is a daily LTE ceiling of 100MB/​Day. When you hit that 100MB mark, you can still use the SIM, but at super slow 3G data streaming. If you just need to use it for texting (LINE) and eMails, 100MB/​Day might be enough, but I found it to be too small. I need more.
Mobile Wifi rental:
8800 Yen for 10 to 14 nights. GL06P Pocket Wifi, daily LTE limit is 366MB. Advantage of pocket Wifi is that you will get to use it for your smartphone and laptop. Downside is that you need to ensure that your phone and pocket wifi are properly linked before you can check your messages.
English: Most of their literature is in Japanese and English. Note that there are misspelled words and sometime hard to understand words. For example, when it says «Length 12 Hours», it does not mean that your rental time period is only 12 hours. It means that the battery life is 12 hours. Although I did not speak English to the attendants, they claim to be bi-​lingual.
Although I have not been to every Y! mobile shops in Tokyo, I don’t think every Y! mobile shop carries pre-​paid SIMs.
