This bakery is just about everywhere, as are many chain bakeries. The reason I like Hokuo is that is cheaper than most bakeries as their baked goods are not as fancy. They have a pretty good selection from bagels (pumpkin and blueberry today) to danish, donuts, rolls, sandwiches, drinks, and other good stuff. This particular shop is small, but conveniently located almost next to the train station entrance/exit. The staff, as are all Japanese staff, were polite and professional. It seems almost ridiculous to write that in any review because it would be equivalent to writing that the shop has a cash register or a front door for that matter. If you’re looking for fancier desserts, try the basement of the station as there are a lot more bakeries.

I cant believe that Unilocalers gave Hokuo bakery just 3 stars. Their baked goods are really really good.
The wheat roll with walnuts and raisins was as good as any boulangerie. Fresh, light and loaded full of plump juicy raisins and flavorful walnuts.
A cheese danish that was light, soft, buttery and full of flavor.
Lastly the chocolate covered Croissant was flaky goodness worthy of it’s french name.
They carry wonderful yogurt drinks (even probiotic). I think they are called Lillian I believe.
