Shin Okubo is also known as Tokyo’s Koreatown! Haha! This area is such a trip to me, because I’m part Korean and part Japanese. There are lots of native Koreans who live here and they all speak Japanese as well. Lots of decent food and Korean products to buy here. Apparently K-Pop and Korean cosmetics are crazy popular, so people come here to buy those things all the time. I myself actually picked up a T-ARA album here. Gotta support the businesses, right? There isn’t too much to do here however. You can walk the entire area in just a few hours. But it’s very close to Shinjuku, so knock yourself out there!

I didn’t necessarily visit Japan so that I can see the other ethnic«towns». Shin-Okubo Korea Town is not large, but it does have decent, cheap eats. It’s not too busy and there’s really not much to do.

This is one block away from Shinjuku station and Takadanobaba station. This is sometimes called Korean town. So there are many shops which sell such goods… But recently the vigor here has been decreasing and this town is declining… Sometimes hate-speeches are done here to attack Korean people. So this begin to be focused on in another way… Kaijo high school is near this station. So many students come and go here. I envied that they can play both at Shinjuku station and Takadanobaba station…
