Takahashi’s Steamed Bun

I grew up eating these sake steamed buns. The sweet red bean paste inside the thin, white, delicate skin combines wonderfully with the rice malt sake.
You MUST go eat Takahashi’s sake manjus if you ever visit Ogikubo. It’s my hometown. Of course you should visit.
Yes, I was only 6 when I had my first sake manju (=steamed bun). But the red bean paste inside is so sweet that even my 6 year old self couldn’t tell if there was alcohol inside. Kind of ironic how I can’t drink anymore even though I’ve been eating these little shizkickers… Ha. Hahaha.
Anyway, since the manjus are so tasty, the store will close as soon as the buns are sold out. They take reservations, so its best if you place a call and pick it up later in the day/​week. Great for presents or for yourself to devour!
