s gusto

Great place for a quick bite or late-​night meal. It is open around the clock (for the most part) and you order from a machine (easy to match the pictures with the prices to get what you want. Though if you want extras and cannot read Japanese, that might be a problem. The food tastes good, not the best, but for the price and convenience, it works! We came for a late night meal one time when we were jet-​lagged (and hungry!) I ordered the pork chops which were pretty good and my friend got the curry which he really enjoyed. It came with a bowl of miso soup which was alright. Overall a great meal that is cheap and fast!

Good for a few bucks! Anothe good thing about this place is they only close for an hour.
We just got back from disneyland, hungry (we didn’t want to spend $$$ for food in disney)— tired and ready to call it a night, we had a reservation at a capsule inn close to Sugamo train station.
Most places are close or about to close, we’re not really willing to walk around to town and explore food joints.
We stumbled into this small diner looking place and was glad we found it.
Like majority of japanese restaurants, they have a kiosk that sells food tickets. S Gusto’s kiosk is really Gaijin friendly (tourist), it may not be in english but all items have pictures that gives you a somewhat idea of what you’re getting.
Now on with the food, I got a plate of regular rice and curry for Y300 with sides of chicken cutlets (Y150) and another bowl of some sort of another cutlet covered with a type of garlic sauce over rice (Y500).
The food was fast and wouldn’t say AMAZING, but definitely great food for a poor man’s budget. All four of us got 2+ dishes from the menu and was completely obliterated.
