Decent Szechuan restaurant among the myriad other restaurants of Yokohama’s Chinatown. The Ultra Spicy Ma Po Tofu was fantastic! Hot enough that those of weaker stomaches easily burst into sweats and doused large volumes of liquid. But honestly not so spicy that for those who like spicy food it was not inedible nor were any of the classic Szechuan flavors masked. The flavor of the Szechuan peppercorns was well highlighted in this dish. However, it was heavy on the oil to the point that it was a little unsettling to stare at, in terms of my cardiac health. The shark fin and Matsutake mushroom dish was nice, highlighting the shark fin flavor and the earthy nature of the famous mushroom. The separate shark fin dish was a bit too heavy on the starch. A little too thick for my appetite. The chili scallop dish was surprisingly not very spicy it was tasty if a little overwhelmed by the red sticky sauce. The crab fried rice was perfectly seasoned with just enough oil in the dish to satisfy a fried food craving. The Xiao Long Bao were a bit disappointing. The soup flavor did not shine through, nor the flavor of the internal ingredients(crab). The Chinese broccoli was surprisingly one of the best dishes of the night. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning to make it a table favorite. Definitely would come back to this location. The restaurant itself has two floors including open dining room area and private rooms, so perfect for various occasions.
