HOT&DELICIOUSPORKRAMEN! This is the perfect joint if you’re on the go, hungry and in need of quick sustenance. The pork is soft, the broth is rich and lots of sprouts(Tip: Don’t put too much). I hope you’re not claustrophobic since its a hole in a wall and you’re definitely going to be rubbing elbows with people next to you. There’s a booth but sometimes waiting is not an option. Happy eating!

While I was in Yokosuka for business, I came here on the recommendation from a friend and I’m so glad I did because the ramen was amazeballs! Once you walk in, head over to the left side of the restaurant to purchase your order from the machine — American translations are on the window to the left. The small size is sufficient for most hunger levels(I got the medium during my second visit and was disappointed because I barely made a dent) and comes with noodles, soft-boiled egg, cabbage, sprouts, and your choice of two or four porks(thick, fatty pieces). There are also extra toppings for purchase if you so desire. After you’ve made your purchase take your ticket(s) to the counter so they can start making your meal. They’ll ask if you want garlic — say YES — it’s fresh and seriously made the flavor stand out. The place is relatively small — there are about 8 or so seats. I never had a problem getting a spot, but I observed a few people who had a short wait while I was there. It’s definitely worth it. The ramen here is my favorite and I have yet to find any that I like better. My coworkers loved it too!

Imagine your favorite college pizza joint — moderately priced, lot of meat, greasy, and giant but had a great taste. Not many thrills — it just got the job done. This is that equivalent in the ramen world. 1. The broth is good but they cheat, you can see the small bits of pork fat floating in it but it tastes so damn good. 2. The noodles are thick and good — a normal here is a large elsewhere, and if you go large like me, «King size» — hope you are starving because damn is it a lot. Only complaint is that some noodles stuck together. 3. The pig — OMG, super thick super soft super fatty cuts of pigness. Put it simply, the meat is a meal by itself on a King. 4. Additional toppings — Egg was done on par with most(100 yen extra), cabbage and sprout stir fry(free) on top was ok, and the super spice(50 yen) was worth it. It’s really popular with the younger crowd. No seaweed, shoots, or thrills — all hardcore stamina monster of a bowl. If you want Polish go to Honmokuya or Zushiya. If you want to grease out that hangover or fill up that hole in your stomach with college nostalgia — this is it. This is what 一八屋 fails at. Good joint.
