Soleil Restaurant & Wine Bar

This fine dining restaurant is a once a blue moon afair kinda place. Looks good, taste good but ain’t gonna fill you up.
So I was here with a friend just to try out what’s so radical about the food here. Ambience is a defiintely delight because it’s meant to be high class and romantic and great for special occasions.
We delicately picked a few recommended food and I would personally vote for cold tuna with homemade citrus sorbet as starter. The way all the flavours melt in your mouth is just heavenly. The other dish I would recommend is wagyu cheeks. Maybe I’m just a beef lover but trust me, every bite is a delight.

Fancy some western fine dining experience then head on over to Soleil Restaurant & Wine bar in section 17 Petaling Jaya. This hidden beauty bagged the award for Best European food by Time Out KL Food Awards in 2014.
Having known that, My expectations was pretty high when I paid a visit to this place. A friend & I came over for lunch to try some of the signature dishes which I heard about from people who have already been to Soleil.
The Yellow fin tuna tartar with mayo & citrus gel was a sweetheart you would definitely love. It taste as good as it looks. The whole presentation definitely complemented the taste. Since im big on fish, I went straight for the Barramundi fish which came with a real crispy on top served with crab ravioli. A definite classic with a fusion touch. Expect to ahve a hole in your wallet as this sort of experience doesnt come cheap. The defined standards of this place keeps up to its fine reputation.

Soliel is a rare treasure that has been kept in Section 17, PJ. It is fine-​dining at its best and for once it is not in he heart of KL.
I was fortunate enough to attend a birthday dinner at Soliel and I was in love and will go back when I get the chance! I want to go back also for a three-​course lunch set they have for Rm48++. They also offer a five course menu at 190++ but the catch is that the entire table has to take it. Their service is excellent and you should expect nothing less. It is the perfect place for big birthday dinners, romantic and fancy night out with family and friends.
The décor is very modern and minimalist. It has two stories so it is spacious and luxe. The parking usually crowded on the weekends but you could find parking easily.

Who would have guessed that the sleepy neighbourhood of Section 17, Petaling Jaya would slowly rise to host a number of fine dining establishments? Modern European restaurant Soleil would be one of the latest to join the pack. However, it may be more apt to categorise Soleil under the semi fine dining category as diners are presented with options for a set lunch, set dinner and degustation menu. Do also watch out for the daily specials which changes every couple of days depending on popularity.
The word Soleil goes two ways; it means sun in French and it is also a wine brand (Mer Soleil) which is apt as the restaurant boasts a large selection from its wine cellar. I kicked off my meal with a refreshing cold appetiser — marinated crabmeat with avacado, momotaro tomato and basil sorbet. The layers of fresh crabmeat was an excellent opening appetiser, drawing acidity from the lime and tomato and finished off with the basil sorbet. For the main course, I had the pan fried monk fish with vegetable crust, green pea coulis and seafood emulsion (replacing the usual lemon beurre blanc). The vegetable crust gave a nice crunch to the fish and the seafood emulsion added a sweet balance.
Something for the carnivores to try will be the lamb loin with ratatouille. Tender with bits of fat still clinging onto the bone, the meat was kept juicy as the chef had pan fried it then finished it off in the oven. As for dessert, chocolate connoisseurs must not miss the dark chocolate mousse with Ghana chocolate parfait, guanaja moelleux and passion fruit. This dessert incorporates the use of Belgian and French techniques as the various bitter chocolate are paired with the sour passion fruit.
