As authentic as it gets. The food was excellent, the service great and the character truly Mexico.

Really great food with tons of flavor! The fajitas were excellent. The chef/owner was also very friendly and attentive. Would love to go here again if I go back to area.

Some of the best food that we’ve had in Mexico! Chef Alf is the best! We love him! He made the experience so much fun. Get the Shrimp Fajitas! I ordered that dish, and the whole family said it was the best out of all of our’s. While staying in Alkumal, my family & I came to El Ulitimo Maya twice… we would have gone more if we were staying longer. Seriously, it was THAT good! The town of Akumal is not very touristy, a little more off the beaten path /real mexico. Worth checking out, really chill and lovely. We really enjoyed it. And there is one souvenir shop in town, and the prices are a lot less then Playa & Tulum. Enjoy!

hole in the wall, bring cash, pesos though or you will loose in exchange rate.

Had a great meal here during our stay in Akumal. Table of four, with three different dishes and they all were delish(ribs, and two, types of tacos). The seasoning on the ribs was fantastic and our friends raved about the tacos. The rice was excellent as well. Couple margs and a trial shot of tequila, and we were happy. The owner Alfredo was attentive and friendly. We also enjoyed sitting outside and watching the activity in the pueblo. If we had more time, we would have gone back a second time.

This tiny, non descript restaurant in Akumal Pueblo is a diamond in the rough. It has been taken over in the past year by a great chef and gentileman by the name of Alfredo. The menu is largely seafood along with barbequed ribs and tacos. My wife had the coconut shrimp — the largest most delicious shrimp she ever had, beautifully arranged around a mound of rice. I had the fish fillet with poblano cheese sauce — unique and very tasty. There are a good selection of beers on the menu, some of which you won’t see in most places. Alfredo is a affable host, and when I found out payment was cash only, he was very apologetic, and suggested I could pay him tomorrow(I managed to pay the bill in US dollars). Total bill for two fabulous dinners with beers — $ 27.00!
