We had a rental car last time we were here, so decided to explore some of the local beaches. Chileno Bay(or Bahia Chileno) is a beautiful crescent-shaped cove beach about halfway between Cabo and San Jose. The water was crystal clear and Caribbean blues, but quite chilly at the end of March, and the sand was very course — would have been nice to have water shoes. Apparently sometimes there is snorkel equipment for rent on the beach, but not the day we went. But we waded out and could see the fish just by looking down. We met some kayakers who saw whales right off the beach. Several boats come and drop off dozens of snorkelers, which make the waters a little more crowded than they would ordinarily be, but still much quieter and more peaceful than the hustling Medano Beach.
