Wonderful little vegetarian/vegan buffet. I have been coming here for 5 years and it’s always very good. Super healthy and budget priced.

What an unbelievably hidden gem of a restaurant. It’s a few block walk from the Malecon but worth it. A quaint restaurant with very friendly staff. A very large selection of vegan and vegetarian food and drink. Food was varied and very tasty. My large family had dinner here and everyone from kids to grandparents enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Simple no frills place. Very nice lady that we had full conversation with in our broken(extremely) Spanish. Food was fasty, nothing really to complain about. She explained to us the next days options, which was going to be Mexican, and I wished we had time to go there the next day. I’d recommend this place to all vegetarians. The place is a bit difficult to find. Here’s a hint. Walk along the boardwalk till you find the seahorse sculpture. Walk up the street that is Iturbide. The street ends but there will be a serious of stairs and the sign for veggie buffet.

I actually chose a hotel in Puerto Vallarta due to its proximity to this restaurant, and I’m glad I did. We ate there 3 times on our trip, and each time hit the spot. Planeta Vegetariano offers a vegetarian buffet with many vegan options – all you have to do is ask which they are. I particularly appreciated the variety of hot dishes. It can be easy to find a salad or fruit anywhere – finding steaming black beans(sin mateca de cerdo), chilaquiles, and cheeseless breakfast lasagna is a lot harder. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. We paid 190 pesos total for two adults and one child for each of the meals we ate there. I’m so happy that Planeta Vegetariano exists – it made our Mexican vacation infinitely easier and more pleasant!

This is a great(off the beaten track) place to score well cooked, relatively inexpensive food in P.V. !!!

We tried this place while on a family vacation and were incredibly impressed. My two kids(3 ½ &1 ½ yrs old) & very particular wife dominated the breakfast buffet. Their hot cakes were awesome as well as their hot dishes(something with tofu, zucchini dish, poblano pepper dish, cactus dish, black beans, etc). Their fruit was fresh & you could see they’ll prepping the lunch menu w/care in the back. They also have a really good green drink made out of cactus, spinach, celery, papaya, and other ingredients. We left very satisfied & happy; we plan to eat there again before departing!

Delicious! The map seems to be wrong, so follow the address. It is only 1 block north of the church. It’s hard to find vegan food here, but this place provides many delicious options! Enjoy!

This place has a central location and is very easy to find(up a flight of stairs right by the church). The quality of the food is consistent. They have a great balance of cold salads and hot-n-hearty main dishes. I think their aguas frescas are the best! They don’t always mark the vegan dishes, but they can tell you without any problem. There’s enough variety that I always leave stuffed even when I didn’t like some of the dishes.

I like to eat my veggies! But, I’m not obsessed about it as a religious conviction like some people. Having said that, I think this little place will appeal to even the non-veg heads in your crowd. I’ve taken my carnivores here and they generally have been able to find some things that appeal to them on the fairly extensive buffet. Although, we’ve made a few stops at D Mike’s for a hot dog fix on the way home from time to time. Still plenty of hardcore vegan/vegetarian options though and this little unassuming spot enjoys an international reputation for their healthy plant based cooking. It is not a particularly alluring atmosphere — cute enough, tucked up the hill a couple of blocks East of the Malecon and just down the street from the Cathedral. It is «functional/funky» but not much more. So, it’s a nice central location, easily accessible and very affordable. It’s also a refreshing change of pace here in Vallarta because the Mexican culinary tradition isn’t particularly known for embracing the vegetarian lifestyle these days which is interesting since the prehistoric population lived on largely plant based diets. You have to admire their creativity here in turning dishes that are traditionally animal protein based into perfectly acceptable veg replacements(some actually manage to be better than their animal based inspirations). Definitely not just a giant salad bar. Whether you’re a dyed in the wool vegan/vegetarian or just looking for a change of pace you should give this little spot a shot — you may be quite surprised.

A big favourite breakfast spot of ours! Vegetarian fare with a Mexican flare — served all-you-can-eat, buffet style. Planeta Vegetariano is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, every day of the week(from 8am to 10pm), and with different menu dishes offered every day. Although we have dined there several times over the years for lunch and dinner, it’s going there for breakfast that we enjoy the most. Here’s what a typical breakfast buffet looks like: selections of cut, fresh fruits(cantaloupe, papaya, pineapple, and apple), yogurts(natural and flavoured, and various ‘toppings’ — granola, coconut, nuts & seeds, and etc.), hot cereal, hotcakes(with buckwheat), nopales(a tasty cactus dish), chilaquiles(with all the ‘toppings’ available — red onion, a tasty ranchero cheese, sour cream, etc.), frijoles(black beans, dark and so delicious!!), tofu dishes(resembling eggs and meat, and very tasty), juice(a little«weird-looking» at times, but sure good tasting!!), coffee/tea, a wonderful, nutty, multi-grain bread, and crispy tostadas. Everything well-prepared and presented, all dishes labelled as to content, and so inexpensively-priced. Planeta Vegetariano is a small, colourful, and cute place, with friendly service, and good food. Based on our many dining experiences there, one of the best breakfast values in Puerto Vallarta!
