I accidentally found this food cart when I stopped by the neighboring coconuts vendor. Local people were gathering around the cart and dining. Tio Toño has limited menu, but the dishes are prepared fresh and entertaining to watch how they are cooked. Open air tables made us feel cool and relaxed. I had broiled clam in the shell and soup.(Almeja Gratinada en su Concha & Almeja Gratinada en su Jugo) Both of them were delicious. Almeja Gratinada en su concha was relatively simple but tasty dish where clam, butter, cheese and chopped onion are mixed and stuffed in the shell, then broiled. Perfect place for some snacks!

Tio Toño is a food cart at the corner of Blvd. Lazaro Cardenas(Highway 1) and Calle Diamanté, four blocks down from the Civic Center and Riviera Hotel(very close to where the cruise ships dock) and sort of across the street from Mr. Pampas restaurant. We come to Ensenada to race the Baja 1000 and make at least two trips to Tio Toño’s cart during our stay. I highly recommend the ceviche and another dish he bakes in a big clam shell on a toaster oven sitting on the tailgate of his white truck. Seating is plastic chairs under a 10×10 easy up, but you won’t care because the food is so good. If you try it(and I hope you do) tell him Desert Dingo Racing sent you. Truth in advertising: Tio Toño’s cousin Carlos is one of our chase truck drivers.
