What a great find! Apparently this was a long standing Rocky Point restaurant that once closed and re-opened. I’m so happy they did! Our food was divine and the décor made us feel like we were in our own little paradise. The shrimp were large and tasty, the service was impeccable and pricing was spot on. We sampled two shrimp dishes, one with raspberry chipotle and one bacon wrapped. Both were served with steamed veggies(yay!!!) and rice. Nice break from refried beans… lol. also got to try a mango margarita. yummm… I can’t wait to go back and sample more!!!

We loved this restaurant. It was by far the best meal we had while in Rocky Point. We especially enjoyed the service and ambiance.

After reading the reviews, we decided to give it a shot. NOTGOOD, 45 minutes to get our food, we were the only ones there when we arrived. I ordered rib eye and shrimp, well Am 98% sure the steak was microwaved, no grill marks, freezer burn taste, Im pretty sure because I was in the food service industry for over 25 years. In the interest of fairness Some of the other memebers of our party were pleased with other choices, i.e. Shrimp Cocktail, Shrimp meat ball soup, ceviche. You will have to park in the street, and walk up about 15 steps to enter, pretty good views ask for a window table. With all the other dining choices that Rocky Point has to offer, don’t think we will be back to the Friendly Dolphin, by the way the only Dolphin in the décor that I noticed was the stained glass on the front door, nothing else that anything to do with the sea or dolphins. jus saying!

For many years the Friendly Dolphin was one of the top places to eat in Rocky Point, but it shuttered a while back. Well, it’s back open and the experience is like it was before. Typical Mexican menu with reasonable prices(by US standards) in a unique atmosphere. The upstairs dining rooms have a nice view of the port and sandy beach. There’s also an outdoor seating area on the second level. Service is friendly and efficient, and English speaking. Seafood dishes are fresh – the shrimp ceviche was the best we’d ever had. We liked it so much this time around that we returned the next night. It’s not going to blow you away, but for a good, standard Mexican meal in a nice atmosphere at reasonable cost, we’d recommend the friendly dolphin(aka delfin amigable).

We had dinner here last week, and I have to bump the star shine up a bit to 5 stars. On our previous visit a month ago, we’d eaten a great dinner out on their terrace/balcony(marina and street view), but it had been a fairly steamy night, and the AC for the indoor dining wasn’t on, but it was a decent experience, nonetheless. This visit was a little later in the evening, by design. This time around, we walked in, and the AC was on! But we still opted for the terrace for the marina view because it was a little cooler outside than the last visit. I can’t say whether our seafood entrees were better than our last visit. It would have been like trying to pick my favorite parent. We ordered the Blue Coast Shrimp(stuffed GIANT shrimp with a mini-flight of 3 different sauces) and the Seafood Laffarga(topped with a white sauce). Both were delicious, decadent and rich, but the winners here were the BCS. Our service was also noteworthy because RAMON(sorry, Ramon) our food, beverage and now, entertainment provider sent over a musician to serenade partner for his birthday. He was embarrassed, but okay after he(we) ate his birthday flan. We did notice that this restaurant was busy every night(6 nights) we were in RP/PP, based on the cars on the street(leaving the Malecon) we traversed every night. TIP: Try to get there early, because next time, we’ll likely have to do same to sit at a table of our choice.

BACKINBUSINESS!!! Yes, the Friendly Dolphin(El Delfin Amigable) is once again open for business. My wife and I stopped in this past weekend and are happy to say that the food was fantastic. The restaurant still looks great and the gentlemen that was always there greeting guests is back as well(at least I think it’s him) Anyway, give this place a try when in RP, you won’t be disappointed.
