What a pleasant surprise to an amazing meal! Food was cooked to perfection! The wait staff are friendly, courteous, the best! Make sure you save room for an after dinner tequila on the house!

There are a few moments when I feel called upon to wrote a review — usually it means it is something you feel strongly about. The chef here(and I mean chef and not just a cook) has got so dialed on that you’re taken by surprise. The simple décor and casual environment just adds to the charm. It’s all about the food. Trained wonderfully well and they delivered. We covered a range including the signature dish as well as a hamburguesa that was the best I’ve had in the past few years with homemade fries and soft buns. My mother was not thrilled with her fish fillet as one side was not fully cooked. But the patron prawn and bacon dish is sublime and filling. The dessert of key lime pie was just as good. I will be coming back as many times as I can. It reminds you why you don’t need to rely on all inclusives — venture and you will be rewarded.

Well yes back to back dinners here! Yesterday’s fresh fish, mahi mahi my favorite. Tonight I’m going for a filet & coconut shrimp combo for $ 10.00US along with a don Julio margarita. Its fabulous.

We stayed at Sheraton and came to this restaurant for lunch based on great Unilocal reviews. It’s about 5 minutes walk from Sheraton. The restaurant has a very simple décor. They have seating inside and outside. The food was really good here and the presentation is as good as in many expensive restaurants. I ordered shrimp Al Patron — it’s their signature dish. The shrimp is wrapped in bacon, stuffed with Gouda cheese and grilled. It’s served on the bed of rice. Bacon and cheese made this dish a little too salty for me, but overall it was really good. My husband had guacamole and shrimp cream soup. Guacamole tasted really well and shrimp soup was creamy and the cream taste didn’t overpower the shrimp. The service was extremely attentive and nice. They even gave us complementary dessert drink.

About two blocks from the Sheraton, El Patron is a wonderful find for fresh seafood, prepared expertly, presented beautifully and worthy of savoring. I understood the chef moved from a large downtown hotel to open his own place; there is pride in everything they serve. It is relatively small, and the lines can be long to get in at peak dining times on weekend. However it is worth any wait. They easily accommodated our group of 10 on two different occasions by moving tables together. The Patron Shrimp is the signature dish and a personal favorite — bacon wrapped, fresh shrimp with fresh cheese served on a bed of rice. Yummo. The fresh fish was exceptional. The house made guacamole exceptional. Fish tacos expertly prepared. Burritos galore. There is a good selection of Mexican beers. A red and white wine are available. Mixed drinks available. Overall, El Patron is a high quality, affordable Mexican seafood restaurant for the foodies in Puerto Vallarta.

Loved this place. Loved it so much, my wife and I went back the next night. The chef and staff take pride in the food, menu, and work they do. Would have cost us $ 100 or more for these meals and drinks in the U.S.A. Paid maybe $ 35 which included an appetizer drinks(beer, wine, and bottled water). 3 blocks up from the Sheraton so off the beaten path a little for tourists, but well worth it. I do not write many reviews, I should do this more, this place made me want to.

El Patron is a short walk from the Sheraton Buganvillas resort, across the street from the soccer fields. What a great little place! The rolled crab tacos with chipotle cream sauce appetizer is without a doubt the highlight. Our kids had coconut shrimp at a half dozen places in PV but El Patron’s were a cut above. The filet mignon was a terrific bargain at $ 180 pesos as well. The service is incredibly friendly… I’m running out of superlatives here but you get the point. It’s not a fancy place but it’s well worth a visit. Or two.

Great little find in Vallarta. Small place well worth the wait if you have to. Not the usual, fancy, «high end» joint that is over priced and mediocre. El patron is a quaint restaurant that produces quality food at a good price. We had guacamole. It was good and a nice sized serving. The marlin tostada was excellent and highly recommended. Smoky and quite large. I was going to get the agua chili but went with the grilled octopus al pastor. It was fantastic. The shrimp Diablo was well received as well. 2 people. Several drinks and a bunch of food with a healthy tip, $ 40. The owner? Manager? was nice and had a pleasant, efficient wait staff. I will defiantly go back the next time I am in the neighborhood.

My husband and I were in Puerto Vallarta earlier this October and discovered this fairly new gem«hole-in-the-wall» restaurant. The food was the best we had in PV, and the prices were great. Our favorites were the seared tuna on a bed of risotto, rolled(real) crab tacos with a chipotle cream sauce, octopus pastor, and their chips with spicy salsa. Don’t forget to order a margarita-large and delicious for about $ 5! Jaime and Manuel were attentive without being overbearing. It’s a small, clean place with limited seating, so if you must wait, do so-you will be glad you did.
