The one thing that Basalt was always missing was a really nice outside area. Being outside of the bar wasn’t that nice of a place to go because seating is limited and you’re just sitting on the footpath. Gazebo on Basalt has recently opened, and while it has its own menu and its own bar/bar staff, you still get food from the Basalt kitchen and the drinks are the same as downstairs. The good folks behind the bar provide free sunblock, which is amazing for whities like me who burn to a crisp if they sit in the sun for more than just a few minutes. When I go to Gazebo on Basalt I like to buy a big cold pint of cider and enjoy the sunshine — it’s nice and quiet during the day up there.
