Hobsonville Point Markets

Happening on both weekend days from 9am till 1pm, this market is a really lovely one at the waterfront. Inside the old seaplane hangar at The Landing, they sell everything from local farm produce, breads, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, organics, coffee, tea, honey and flowers. Lovely vendors and a really cool venue to admire too.
Great relaxed vibe with plenty of parking and lots of places to lean your bike. If you can’t bring your bike however, you can hire them from the Next Bike stands. They also have the Hobsonville Point ferry terminal as well. Nearby there are beautiful coastal walks that are both walk and bike friendly.
Well worth a look– such a nice spot for enjoying after the markets

My partner and I decided to go check out The Hobsonville Point Farmers Market on a Saturday a few weeks ago. When we arrived the place was busy with heaps of people enjoying the market. The market had a variety of stalls to choose from; my partner and I decided to settle on having a pie at Heavenly Pies stall. I ordered the venison potato top pie and my partner ordered the chicken cashew pie. We both found the pies to be delicious and were extremely satisfied with the price. I will definitely be going back to the market again for another pie.

Very average place, the whole market is no bigger than a tennis court. There is only around 20 stalls there and the only stall worth going to was loaf, which you can get from your local Nosh. It’s not worth the time nor the petrol used to get there. We spent 8 minutes in the all together which includes waiting time for a cup of juice. If you are just browsing, it will only take you max 5 minutes to see all of the stalls. Complete waste of time. You will get better entertainment and fruit at lower prices by going to the FruitWorld en route to the market (there is also a café next door).

I was on a mission last weekend, I’d heard Sweet Cuisine had added a market stall to their empire and I was keen to try their new products. A new machine is making it possible to produce a range of chocolate coated nuts, or dragees. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to the farmers market at Hobsonville Point. It’s moved from its original spot, further down towards the marina. Saturdays are busy, but I’d say it’s even busier on a Sunday when there are more stall holders. Lively atmosphere, with a mix of homegrown and artisan products on offer. I especially like Terry’s organic honey, Margaret’s handmade hot chilli sauces and the talented Brian Campbell’s range of chocolatey treats. A salted caramel chocolate, chocolate macaron and a bag of my very own paprika and dark chocolate coated almonds made their way home… Well, almost!

On the most coldest day in Auckland I ventured forth to the farmers market at Hobsonville point. And even though my bed and my electric blanket on the highest setting were calling me back I made the trip out there .
What a delightful place, right by waters edge in disused army maintenance buildings is the market .
There weren’t many stalls when I went (possibly due to the cold weather) but from what I did see on offer, there is plenty to choose from .
I tried a sausage in a bun from Salash deli. The sausage was good with heaps of flavour and a nice fresh bun .
I had a coffee from the coffee place and for me it was ok .
A good place for kids and foodies.

Knew about these markets a long time ago and only now managed to make a trip there. And well worth it, it was!!!. Though when we finally made the entrance toward the market what a shock I got. I knew they had been developing this area but I did not realise how much… I had not been down here since 20 years ago when I served in the Army and now hardly any of it was recognisable to me, until we got to the point of our short journey here. What was the Maintenance Shed at Hobsonville when it was a military camp now served as the Hobsonville Point Farmers Market. Sure there is still a couple more buildings still standing on the way down, but void of that the area has lost most of the recognition of its former glory.
They have chosen the place well to set up this market. By the waters off Hobsonville Point so you need not only enjoy the market within but can also relax by the waters edge.
The market has on the outside a few stalls, one has Clevedon Herb & Produce, one you can taste some mussel fritters and another area there is a wood fired pizza oven where a gentleman turns out delicious pizzas. On the inside the first stall I came across was the one run by Rockhaven Estate. They produce olive oils, infusions, dip packs and also do gift packs very popular over the Christmas period I was told. One of the Olive Oil Gourmet Infusions they sell is called Pizza in a Bottle. And it certainly does smell just like pizza in a bottle. Another is Cumin & Coriander, normally I hate Coriander but this is not made with the leaves but with ground Coriander so the smell and taste were near «invisible «to me.
Taking a step past Rockhaven there was the Hermon Bagels Stall. There was a whole variety. Parmesan Cheese, Plain, Chocolate, Sesame Seed to name a few. There was even one aptly named Everything. the name says it all!
Next door there was the Some Like It Hot range of sweet chilli sauces. I tried what they thought is mild. But for me is more like near the hottest. They do beautiful gift boxes as well, great idea for the Christmas
Moving on you will find the Liquorice Delights of The Liquorice Land. Too many to list.
Filling up a couple of stalls next to the liquorice stall is the Pukeko Bakery which has a vast array of baked produce on offer. We ended up buying some Kumura Bread which is delicious and sampling the Almond pastries equally as tasty.
Mazo Cheeses presents itself on the next stall. We sampled several and again all delighted our taste buds but we only walked away with some of the «Parenyica «rolled smoked cheese.
Spruce Juice mixes up some healthy concoctions to refresh yourself with and opposite them we found the Salash Delicatessen They have a range of European style salami, dry cured meats and sausages. Again of the ones I tried all were delicious, even though one nearly burnt my taste buds off. That was the Hell Hot Extra Hot Pork Salami. But I remained of strong composure… i did not want to appear weak amidst a busy market …
Further along we came across the Relish The Thought brand stall which sells their jams, chutneys and relishes. Next door is the Magnolia Kitchen stall displaying some speciality cakes, cupcakes, afternoon delights and old fashioned sweet treats. The lady who owns and makes these little beauties formerly worked in the hospitality administrative sector, then left to do this. Obviously she has definitely now found her true calling!!!
Nearby stalls are Velvet delight which produces cupcakes and Elegant Lily florists.
Then we came across the stall run by Terry and Karlene of Eathbound Honey. They are based on a certified organic property in the North west area of Auckland in Bethells Valley. They produce the honey, honeygar, honey vinegar and also Hand Salve, Heel Balm and Lip Balm to name a few. We ended up buying a jar of Manuka Honey here… well worth it.
Across the way from Terry and Karlene’s stall is that of Heavenly Pies. And heavenly they are! We tried a Port wine beef & blue cheese pie and thetaste I find hard to describe. So so delicious!!! Highly recommend them.
Before we got to the Remarkable Chocolate stall we sampled some of the handcrafted French delicacies from Les Recettes D’Elise and the Storehouses pates, aiolis and seasonings.
As for the chocolates. They had four varieties. All melt in your mouth ectascy! One flavour, the Sunset Desire we could not resist to take home .
After all that standing, walking around and sampling we decided to have a coffee from the Fabric Bay Coffee Works at the other end of the hangar. It is just a simple open counter but I got to admit that the cappuccino I got was not bad… comparable with others I have had in actual cafes!
We stuck our heads in quickly to the art displays next door then took a stroll down to the Hobsonville Point ferry pier.
I would highly recommend to anyone to come spend some time here.

My favourite farmer’s market — an awesome selection of fresh produce, preserves, oils, jams, sweet treats, baked goods & a changing array of different ready-​to-​eat goodies.
The new spot down on the water’s edge at the Hobsonville ferry terminal is picturesque, and there are plenty of places outside to enjoy your newly purchased goodies.
Come for a ramble on a weekend morning — you won’t be disappointed.

We checked this place out for the first time today, they are open Sat and Sunday’s and close at 1pm. It is referred to as a Farmer’s Market — more ‘Farmer’ than ‘Market’ I dare say! — We spotted more than one cowboy hat, the best worn was on a tiny tot with the full outfit including spurs, photo worthy if I had HAD a camera on me.
There was also a van full of furry critters, rabbits, guinea pigs and pet rats available to pat and coo over, which simply re-​affirmed my desire on gaining a pet rabbit — you know you can toilet train them like cats?!
So, not much produce but plenty of artisan products, from Evolve Kombucha, local olive oil, to gourmet pet food. Plenty of sweet treats, including the raspberry nougat licorice (I tried, and bought), caramel and apple cupcakes (yeah, I tried that too), and really good coffee. It seemed very dog and family friendly, has a great setting and not too crowded. It was however quite hard to find, even when we had parked the car we had to ask strangers where to actually go, more signs would help for those of us unfamilar with the area.
P. S. I highly recommend popping over here for lunch, a handful of great options whilst you shop or to take home with you. Enjoy!

Spent a lazy mid morning at the market with my hubby and kids. Although the market isn’t that big — yet, it offers quite a range of produce and goods. We devoured some lovely cup cakes and bought some wonderful sausage, fresh pasta and a «cheeky» beef lasagne for our next few nights dinners. I must say I have had cravings since for the lasagne so will definitely be back up to the markets on a trip soon. It’s well worth a visit.

The only bad thing about the Hobsonville Point Markets is that they’re only on in the weekends! If only we could have access to such beautiful produce every day of the week. The markets are always a buzz with activity. Even though they haven’t been around for as long as some other markets they are fully up and running and there are always loads of people there.
They have everything from fruit and vegetables, chocolate, sausages, ginger beer, gluten free products and a whole lot more. My favourite thing at the markets is the chilli chocolate! You can just eat it but they suggest you melt it in some hot milk and have it as a hot chocolate. It’s so yum and the kick of chilli at the end is just great. They also sell a great gluten free biscotti that’s made with macadamia nut flour. It’s got a really different and delicious taste. These markets are a great asset to our city and you should definitely hit them up.
