Oh dear lord — yum yum yum. I was taken here with my creative parter by a friend last week and it was amazing. He had known about it for years and knew pretty much everything on the menu and everyone who worked there. Him and my partner ordered the smashed eggs and I got the seared squid salad. Wow. I;m gonna put it out there and say the best squid i’ve had? And i am a big squid fan. I think the presentation added to it. often you can go out for brunch and they just chu it on the plate because it all tastes the same — these meals are seriously works of art. And the flavours are amazing. The café is great with ample indoor an outdoor seating, and situated in a lovely part of town. The coffe is awesome, the service is friendly and very accommodating to indecisive orderers. As we went to pay I was pretty much drooling at the cabinet food, and will definitely get something to takeaway next time. An awesome place and another great discovery in Auckland.

Had a really lovely late lunch here the other day. When we arrived there were roadworks going on outside and it was really noisy, but we hadn’t been sitting for long when they stopped and I truly got to experience how peaceful this little café is. They didn’t have a huge amount left in their cabinet as it was around 2.30pm but I chose the teeniest filled baguette that I have ever seen and it was so cute. It was really simple just crunchy bacon, micro greens and parmesan with a side of really delicious chutney and it was soooo good I enjoyed every bite. We received impeccable service here with three different people doing different things for us we felt like queens! My coffee was great no disappointments there. The meals from the kitchen looked really great so I can’t wait to come back here and try them!

I had some time up my sleeve before an appointment in Parnell and while there wasn’t really time to visit the Rose Gardens down the road, I did pop into Rosehip Café. It was right on closing but they still served a great cup of Alpress coffee, thanks guys. The tables were mostly tidied away and cabinets were being cleaned out however a they did allow the last of the guests to linger in the afternoon sunshine. This café seems really lovely, I’d say the food would be incredibly good any time of day. Brunch apparently is superb. Next time I do swing by to visit the Rose Gardens I will make a point to have a meal here, or a glass of wine soaking up that afternoon sun.

This is a charming little café on the Gladstone road in Parnell. Despite the fact that it’s not on the main drag in Parnell, it’s still a popular spot and packs out on the weekend. It doesn’t come cheap however as the main courses and cakes/pastries in the deli are on the expensive side. Coffee is of a high standard and flat whites I have consumed there have been right on the money. They open the doors in the outdoor area so it has a light airy feel and doesn’t get too hot. The last time I was there we got hotcakes with buttermilk cream and they were lovely and rich. If there is a criticism of the Rosehip café, it’s that the clientele are all a bit ‘old money Parnell’. It’s not what you would call cutting edge but the food is certainly of a high standard.
