The Pakuranga branch is perhaps the least inspiring of the Texan Art Schools. I love the Newmarket shop, but its eastern counterpart just fails to pack a punch. It’s more like a limp wristed slap.
Before I explain my malcontent — a word of warning for the high-​brow among us; Texan isn’t really very arty at all. So don’t go expecting to walk into a gallery space. It’s much more of a gift shop than anything, and it’s a pretty good one at that. I especially like that the stuff is sourced from local makers and designers.
I think perhaps it’s just because the Pakuranga shop space itself is tiny, so there isn’t room for a large range of stock, plus, because it’s so cramped, they don’t seem to put those huge, stunning wall pieces up like they do in other Texans.
