One thing I love best about going out is finding some of the best restaurants in the unlikeliest places. Tuesday night & i had just finished up a meeting at work and a colleague of mine was feeling hungry and wanted to go somewhere nice to eat. This also served as a good opportunity to catch up after her recent wedding. Walking around downtown, we kept rolling off places to eat as passed which was met with a yea maybe, yea nah phrase. We came to an impasse where do we go for tired & true Macca’s or try the restaurant in the Mercue. I had recently stayed there overnight for work, but didn’t get a chance to have dinner there but the Breakfast the next morning was good and the view they get is equally as good. I did wonder being night-time how it would look but time was soon to tell. We rocked up and asked if we had a reservation, nope — just walk in’s. We were seated in the middle by the window overlooking the sea and buildings. I did find my self on a few occasions to be distracted by the scenery of the all the boats coming in and leave and all the people down below walking around. hey have a very good wine list, the food menu on the other hand could have used with a few more options, but that’s merely here nor there. When asked if we were ready to order, I asked what would she recommend and to give her credit for her honesty she told us not to order this, or that & to stick with the lamb for my guest or go with the chicken that I have ordered. Which means to say the rest of the menu is crap? who knows. But I have learnt to always trust the service staff they know the place much better than you are chances are they would have have tried all the food on the menu either by tastings or on their breaks the Chef has cooked something off the menu for them.(when I worked in a hotel, we did this quite often for the staff). I was also suggested to order a side with the mains as well, we opted for the rocket, grape & parmesan cheese. On receiving our mains we were delightfully impressed with the quality that was presented to us. Breakfast was good, but dinner was better. I had opted for Chicken wrapped in bacon, with pumpkin mash & kiwifruit purée. a weird combination that it worked and was very tasty. I won’t go into much detail about the Lamb, as my guest had asked for their lamb to be «very well done» instead of the normal med-rare. MasterChef would have had a field day if he was presented with well done lamb. The rest of the evening went without too much of a hitch. I say this because apart from being distracted by view. It was a pretty good evening with good food & good company for a reasonable price. For the night where I was not expecting too much. but received plenty, I give Vue the following. Food 4⁄5 — Good restaurant quality food here Service 4⁄5 — Friendly & Honest Price — 4⁄5 $ 24 $ 56.00 for two mains, a side salad & two drinks Atmosphere −5÷5 — I now understand why it is called Vue Overall 4⁄5 — If in doubt between Maccas and wanting decent restaurant quality food at an affordable price, chose Vue.
